Job summary

Novonesis is offering a Manufacturing Operations Intern position at our New Berlin, WI facility. You will assist with equipment reliability, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement while working alongside engineers and maintenance teams on real projects.

The role requires pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or manufacturing-related engineering, with a minimum 3.0 GPA, and the ability to arrange housing and transportation.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in the listed engineering disciplines.
• GPA 3.0 minimum.
• Sophomore standing or higher at time of application.
• Willing to arrange housing and transportation.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manuals.

Responsibilities

• Support investigations related to equipment performance and process improvements.
• Review drawings, manuals, and technical documentation to aid troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Assist with identifying replacement parts and component compatibility.
• Participate in root cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with production, maintenance, engineering, and reliability teams to improve performance.
• Support continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, reliability and efficiency.
• Develop and update technical documentation, procedures, reports, and equipment records.
• Present project findings and outcomes to site leadership when applicable.

You'll work on real‑world projects involving equipment investigations, mechanical troubleshooting, technical documentation, and engineering analysis while learning how manufacturing systems support the future of biotechnology.

The Role & Your Impact

As a Manufacturing Operations Intern, you will work alongside manufacturing engineers, maintenance teams, and production personnel to support equipment reliability and continuous improvement initiatives. You will gain exposure to manufacturing processes while helping identify solutions that improve operational performance and equipment effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Support investigations related to equipment performance, reliability, and manufacturing process improvements.
• Review equipment drawings, manuals, and technical documentation to support troubleshooting and maintenance activities.
• Assist with identifying replacement parts, equipment specifications, and component compatibility.
• Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action activities for equipment‑related issues.
• Collaborate with production, maintenance, engineering, and reliability teams to improve manufacturing performance.
• Support continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, reliability, and efficiency.
• Develop and update technical documentation, procedures, reports, and equipment records.

What You'll Need To Be Successful

We are looking for students who are currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in:

• Mechanical Engineering
• Manufacturing Engineering
• Industrial Engineering
• Engineering Technology
• Or a related technical discipline

Required Qualifications And Competencies

• Mechanical aptitude and interest in manufacturing processes, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently while managing project responsibilities.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Sophomore standing or higher at the time of application.
• Ability to arrange your own housing and transportation.

Ways of Working / Working Conditions

• Full‑time internship assignment lasting approximately 10 weeks.
• Located on‑site at our New Berlin, WI facility.
• Regular presence on the production floor is required.
• Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety shoes and hairnets.
• Respiratory protection may be required in certain manufacturing areas.
• Frequent interaction with production equipment, maintenance activities, and manufacturing operations.

Compensation

Expected salary: $23/hr
