Job summary

Stellantis Manufacturing seeks a Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer to join the Engineering team in Kokomo, IN. This role develops and launches processes that meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets for NM, NNM, and adaptation programs across NA powertrain programs.

You will assess process changes, support RFQs, manage cost studies, and ensure NM/NNM programs are completed on time and within budget, while standardizing facilities and driving root-cause analysis.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 3 years of engineering experience.
• Ability to interact with all levels of the organization and translate data for executive briefs.
• Experience across design, manufacturing, sourcing, and installation of powertrain processes.
• Knowledge of cost studies, strategic planning, and data-driven problem solving.
• Strong communications, organization, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform assessments for process changes and related investment requirements for cost studies.
• Support RFQs, sourcing, technical evaluations, design, manufacturing, and installation of components.
• Prioritize NM and NNM program requests and ensure on-time, within-budget delivery.
• Support NM program facilities including site preparation and machine installation.
• Drive standardization across plants and track the Iron Triangle (Scope, Timing, Cost).
• Implement SIS methodology and root cause problem solving to mitigate risks.

Job description

The primary role of the Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer is to participate within an Engineering team to develop and launch processes that meet all objectives for safety, quality, delivery, and cost for both new model (NM), non-new model (NNM), and adaptation programs. This position supports all Manufacturing Engineering functions for North America powertrain battery tray/frame, casting, components, engine, and transmission programs.

Main responsibilities include:

• Perform assessments for process changes and related investment requirements for cost studies
• Understand engineering scope definition, Requests for Quotes (RFQ’s), sourcing, technical evaluations, design, manufacturing, and installation of air/mist/coolant collectors and filtration
• Support and prioritize the Non-New Model (NNM) powertrain programs requests and ensure that approved programs are completed on time and within budget
• Support all New Model (NM) program’s facilities aspects including site preparation and machine installation
• Support flow activities on programs ensuring successful implementation and tracking of the Iron Triangle (Scope, Timing, and Cost)
• Participate in the implementation of Stellantis Industrial System (SIS) methodology, supporting all activities including deployment of advanced SPW tools and guide systematic root cause problem solving methods to attack risks
• Development/improvement of process and equipment standards related to facilities infrastructure.
• Manufacturing Plants located in Dundee, Michigan (MI), Trenton, Michigan (MI), Kokomo, Indiana (IN) and Saltillo, Mexico (MX); Transmission Plants in Kokomo and Tipton, Indiana (IN); Casting Plants in Kokomo, Indiana (IN) and Etobicoke, Ontario (ON), Toledo, Ohio (OH), while maintaining a relationship with the Global CoC initiatives.
• Drive standardization across plants in all regions

Basic Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED and 3 years of experience in engineering or a related technical field
• Ability to work and interact with all levels of the organization
• Strong oral, written, presentation and organizational skills
• Ability to translate technical data and analysis into an executive summary format for presentation in easily understandable formats
• Ability to embrace cross-functional teams responsible for developing, specifying, building, and launching powertrain manufacturing processes
• Knowledge of advanced problem-solving skills and ability to manage data analysis to identify root causes and attack them to closure
• Knowledge of cost studies and strategic planning
• Microsoft Office intermediate or advance knowledge

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or technical equivalent
• Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent
• Preferred 5 or more years manufacturing experience, Powertrain Manufacturing experience a plus
• Preferred 5 or more years’ experience in program management or multi-tasking environment
