Job summary

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
  • 6+ years in a high-volume, complex assembly or advanced manufacturing environment as a leader.
  • Experience applying Lean tools and achieving measurable results.
  • Experience managing manufacturing teams, automation equipment, and MES.
  • Strong Excel and MS Office skills.

  • Lead a diverse team to meet production schedules while improving safety, quality and efficiency.
  • Hire, develop, and train staff to support ramp-ups and ongoing operations.
  • Develop production scalability, workflow, and development plans.
  • Initiate problem-solving groups to meet current and future needs.
  • Lead Lean training in production areas and implement standard work.
  • Drive continuous improvement using Lean tools (pull, Kanban, 5S, visuals).
  • Coordinate with warehouse, quality, and final testing to meet needs.
  • Develop dashboards for decision-making and visualize information.
  • Analyze data to identify root causes of defects and challenges.

Job description

Overview

Bloom Energy is seeking a Manufacturing Manager to join our team in Newark, DE. This is a fully on-site, in-office role that reports to the Sr. Manager, Manufacturing. The position works Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with initial training potentially on day shift hours Monday through Thursday or other shifts as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a diverse team of indirect and direct reports, including supervisors, team leads, team members, and other resources, to achieve the production schedule while improving safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Hire, develop, and train manufacturing staff to support plant ramp-ups and ongoing operations.
  • Develop and implement production scalability, process workflow, and employee development plans.
  • Initiate and facilitate problem-solving groups to resolve issues to meet current and future company needs.
  • Lead training in Lean Manufacturing concepts, tools, and principles in production areas.
  • Support development of policies, procedures, and standardized work for manufacturing and production.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities using Lean tools such as Pull System, Kanban, Standardized Work, 5S, Visual Management, and problem solving; manage kitting processes.
  • Create and maintain training and safety programs, workgroup boards, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Lead problem-solving methods (e.g., A3s, 8-step) and project tracking mechanisms (e.g., Rolling Action Item List – R.A.I.L).
  • Develop and implement change management processes to ensure smooth changes across all aspects of production.
  • Coordinate with warehouse, quality, and final integration testing (FIT) to meet production needs.
  • Optimize the end-to-end value stream from supply chain to delivery of Bloom Energy servers to customers.
  • Support the launch of new products and processes.
  • Manage multiple shifts and demonstrate flexibility to work on any shift or plant area as needed.
  • Develop dashboards for information visualization and decision-making improvements.
  • Analyze data to identify root causes of defects and production challenges.
Qualifications
  • BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent related experience.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in a high-volume, complex assembly or advanced manufacturing environment as a leader.
  • Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing tools and principles with proven results.
  • Experience managing manufacturing teams, automation equipment, and MES systems.
  • Knowledge of Warehouse and Inventory Management; hands-on ERP implementation experience; experience with Oracle WMS.
  • Strong employee-relations, motivation, and mentoring skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Highly advanced analytical and cognitive skills; creative thinker with a vision to raise process maturity.
  • Bias for action and implementation.
  • Experience and aptitude with electrical components preferred.
  • Business experience in hi-tech or low-volume/high-mix industries preferred.
  • Computer systems knowledge with strong proficiency in Excel and MS Office.
  • Strong data analysis and data-driven decision-making skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours per shift.
  • Occasionally lift/carry up to 25–50 lbs.
  • Use hands and fingers to operate machinery controls and computers; visual and hearing capabilities required for product inspection and alarms.
