Job summary

Teledyne ETM in Newark, CA is seeking a Manufacturing Manager to lead the High Energy X-Ray (HEX) manufacturing operations and manage a team of 12-15 direct reports to ensure safe, on-time production of complex cargo and vehicle inspection systems for global security markets.

The role focuses on Lean, 5S, Kaizen, and Six Sigma, collaborating with Engineering, Quality, Sales, and Supply Chain to meet delivery commitments and drive cost improvements while delivering exceptional quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Eligibility to work on U.S. export-controlled programs with manufacturing experience supporting aerospace, defense, medical device, electronics, power supply, high-voltage equipment, or related technical industries.
  • Formal training or certifications in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, Continuous Improvement, or Project Management. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred.
  • Experience supporting complex electromechanical assemblies and regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality systems.
  • Experience with capacity planning, inventory management, and production metrics.
  • Technical understanding of linear accelerators or high energy x-ray systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a manufacturing team of approximately 15 direct reports to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives.
  • Manage daily manufacturing operations for ETM's High Energy X-Ray (HEX) product line.
  • Establish production priorities and maintain schedules to ensure on-time customer delivery.
  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, Sales, and Supply Chain to meet business and customer requirements.
  • Monitor production performance and proactively resolve material, labor, capacity, and process constraints.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and develop manufacturing personnel as business needs dictate.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Lead Lean Manufacturing initiatives focused on waste reduction, process efficiency, and throughput improvements.
  • Champion and sustain 5S standards across all manufacturing areas.
  • Facilitate Kaizen events and continuous improvement projects that improve quality, productivity, and delivery performance.
  • Apply Six Sigma and structured problem-solving methodologies to reduce defects, variation, and manufacturing inefficiencies.
  • Track and analyze key performance metrics, including on-time delivery, labor efficiency, first-pass yield, and productivity.
  • Support new product introductions, engineering changes, and process improvement initiatives to improve manufacturability and scalability.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, quality management systems, and all applicable safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for capacity expansion, cost reduction, automation, and long-term operational improvement.

Teledyne ETM in Newark, CA is seeking an individual to join our Operations team as a Manufacturing Manager. The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, execution, and continuous improvement of our High Energy X-Ray (HEX) manufacturing operations. This position leads a team of approximately 12-15 direct reports and is accountable for ensuring safe, efficient, and on-time production of complex cargo and vehicle inspection systems designed for the global security market. The Manufacturing Manager partners closely with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Sales to achieve customer delivery commitments while driving operational excellence, quality, productivity, and cost improvements.

Salary Range

$120,300.00-$160,400.000

Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, local regulations (such as minimum wage), education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
