Job summary

Amtec Staffing seeks a Manufacturing Manager to direct, plan, and coordinate manufacturing and production for multiple product lines, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals are met.

The role drives lean improvements, reduces cycle time and costs, and leads both union and non-union staff. Responsibilities include schedule management, resource planning, and cross-functional collaboration to meet forecasts and new product launches.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from a four-year college preferred.
  • 5-10 years related experience and/or training.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and effective communicator.
  • Experience in aerospace industry and union environment preferred.
  • Experience with assembly line design and one-piece flow concepts in high/low mix environments.
  • Familiarity with CNC machine equipment and department management.

  • Establish monthly and weekly shipment schedules to ensure on-time delivery and revenue goals.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects to improve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.
  • Forecast, plan and direct resources to achieve objectives.
  • Maintain performance metrics and report status and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement improved information and reporting systems for manufacturing.
  • Analyze problems, drive for root cause, and implement improved methods and procedures.

Job description

Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Manufacturing Manager is responsible for directing, planning and coordinating all aspects of manufacturing and production for multiple product lines in order to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals. Drives implementation of changes to improve quality, reduce cycle time and reduce overall costs. Utilizes lean manufacturing techniques to promote continuous improvement projects resulting in annual cost savings. Recognizes and solves problems affecting production including: schedules, material availability, staff, quality, equipment, and sequence/balance of production line. Works with other division departments and functions to maintain efficient operation, high delivery standards and to promote customer goodwill. Coordinates manufacturing activities ensuring compliance with production forecasts and new product launch dates. Leads, develops and manages the performance of both union and non-union employees in the department.

Responsibilities
  • Establish monthly and weekly shipment schedules to ensure customer on-time delivery and division revenue goals are met or exceeded. Ensure capacity constraints are identified and overcome.
  • Drive the implementation of continuous improvement projects to improve safety, quality, on-time delivery, and productivity.
  • Forecast, plan and direct resources to achieve department and company objectives.
  • Maintain performance metrics to monitor progress and keep division management informed of status, challenges, accomplishments and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement improved information and reporting systems for manufacturing and production.
  • Analyze problems, account for variances, drive for root cause and implement improved methods and procedures; create, review and update improvement plans, at a minimum, on a monthly basis.
  • Review employee performance to assure that deserving employees are recognized and that underperforming employees are given the direction required to improve their performance.
  • Develop medium to long range manufacturing strategies to meet the current business environment.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and oversight for the successful introduction of new products and processes into production through concurrent engineering practices, new technologies, and methods.
  • Oversees the shipping and receiving functions to achieve on time receipts. Maintains required quality levels and product traceability. Reduces inbound/outbound logistics and shipping supplies cost.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction in the area of manufacturing engineering to assure operations and development projects and initiatives are achieved.
  • Provide guidance to the Design Engineering group as it pertains to manufacturability while meeting manufacturing costs.
  • Establish, present, and manage budgets for conducting department activities.
  • Participate in long-range business planning and budget preparation.
  • Must have good oral, written communications and have a high level of moral and ethical codes.
Requirements
  • Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.S. Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, and/or Mechanical Engineering) from a four-year college or university is preferred.
  • 5-10 years related experience and/or training.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, and an effective communicator.
  • Experience in working in an aerospace industry and union environment is preferred.
  • Assembly line design and implementing one-piece flow concepts in both low mix, high volume and high mix, low volume environments.
  • Familiarity with CNC machine equipment and department management.
