Job description

Windy City Wire is looking for a Maintenance Technician for 3rd shift. They will perform general maintenance, repair, troubleshoot, and install production equipment, in accordance with safety, predictive, and productive maintenance systems.

  • Maintain and repair manufacturing equipment.
  • Perform predictive and preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs during machine downtime.
  • Utilize mechanic skills including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
  • Adjust, calibrate, clean, and lubricate equipment. Move machinery and equipment as needed.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and equipment manuals for maintenance and servicing.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and make adjustments.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Maintain a strong Behavior-Based Safety attitude.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

Expect exposure to cold and warm temperatures, moving mechanical parts, and loud environments. The role is physically active, requiring standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. Occasionally, lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.

Working hours: Monday through Friday, 11PM to 7AM, with Saturdays as needed.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • At least 2 years of manufacturing maintenance experience
  • Electrical knowledge, especially up to 3 Phase 480V, is highly desirable
  • Experience with PLC and VFD is a plus
  • Plastic extrusion experience is a plus

Job Type: Full-time

  • Third shift
