Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies is seeking a maintenance mechanic to install, maintain, and repair machinery and facilities in a food manufacturing environment. You will troubleshoot equipment, complete work orders, and support predictive maintenance while maintaining a clean, safe work area.

The role requires basic PLC and mechanical skills, GMP knowledge, and a strong sense of urgency during downtime. Salary range is shown and includes on-site work in a fast-paced plant setting.

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail with high accuracy.
• Proficient in mechanical maintenance across electrical, welding, fabrication, utilities, and basic PLCs.
• Must be 18+ years old.
• Ability to work with or without supervision; meet deadlines.
• GMP knowledge a plus; food manufacturing experience.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, structures, pipes and electrical systems.
• Set up machine tools (lathe, grinder, drill press, milling) to repair or fabricate parts.
• Troubleshoot production and facility equipment for efficiency.
• Complete work orders and urgent tasks as required.

• Support predictive and preventative maintenance programs.

Job description

Perform tasks related to preventative maintenance, mechanical machine repairs, inspection and testing of equipment, building maintenance and specific projects. Perform all jobs safely, efficiently and accurately to maintain and improve the performance of the entire plant in the areas of Safety, Quality, Reliability (SQR) and our Customer 1st strategy. Provide leadership that embodies our 7 Kroger Manufacturing High Performance Work System principles. RESPONSIBILITIES - Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in the facility

• Set up and use machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill press and milling machine to repair or fabricate parts

• Troubleshoot issues, repair failures of production and facility equipment to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness

• Complete assigned work orders and unplanned/emergency tasks as required

• Maintain maintenance area in a clean and orderly fashion

• Utilize maintenance systems as necessary to complete daily, weekly, monthly duties

• Operate material handling equipment safely

• Document work order information/completion

• Provide support to team in the predictive and preventative maintenance program

• Participate and actively support all plant initiatives such as minimizing or eliminating downtime and ensuring plant optimization

• Perform duties accurately and safety in a fast-paced environment

• Follow established programs, policies and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum

Strong attention to detail with high degree of accuracy and precision

Proficient mechanical knowledge and skills one or more of the following maintenance classification: electrical, welding and fabrication, utilities, and basic PLCS

Must be at least 18 years of age

Strong sense of urgency during periods of downtime

Team player with positive attitude

Reliable and dependable

Selfmotivated and selfdirected; ability to organize and define tasks with minimal supervision

Basic computer use, knowledge and skills
