Job summary

Insight Global in Arlington, TX is seeking a Manufacturing/Automation Engineer for a 1-year minimum contract with extensions. You will develop and execute manufacturing processes, design automation, and manage equipment integration in a plant environment, including travel and weekends as needed.

The role requires a mechanical engineering degree, 5 years in manufacturing/engineering with 2 years of launch experience, preferably in automotive, and strong analytical and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years manufacturing/engineering experience with 2 years launch in automotive preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of automation cells and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects autonomously and with accountability.
  • Willingness to work weekends and travel as required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop & execute manufacturing processes at General Assembly, designing automation, equipment/tooling, integration of equipment, and plant installation.
  • Lead OEM and installation contractors from concept to production.
  • Manage day-to-day activities of OEM projects and ensure on-time delivery.
  • Ensure efficient material flow and cross-functional collaboration on automation and tooling across departments.
  • Develop automation, equipment, and tooling SORs and installation plans.
  • Provide technical direction to outside vendors and oversee installations.
  • Support plant build events and address launch issues to achieve flawless launches.

Job description

Duration: 1 year minimum + extensions - long term contract

Location: Arlington, TX

Compensation: $38/hr to $50/hr

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

  • Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching.
  • Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
Must‑Have Qualifications:
  • College degree with major in mechanical engineering or Equivalent Relevant Experience
  • 5 years manufacturing/engineering, 2 years launch experience - preferably in automotive industry
  • Deep knowledge in automation cells.
  • Thorough knowledge of Manufacturing Processes and Equipment. Also, the Global Launch Process and Vehicle Development Process.
  • Demonstrate excellent level of analytical ability, communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and customers to solve problems and resolve issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and significantly complex projects and assignments with highest level of autonomy and accountability for results
  • Flexibility with changing work hours and environment as required to meet project timeline and support plant operating schedule
  • Availability to weekends and Holidays as required

Key Responsibilities:

Develop & Execute manufacturing processes at General Assembly; designing Automation, equipment/tooling, Integration of equipment, install into the plant, and manage to steady state. Requirements would include effective utilization of personnel, material, machines and facilities necessary for a flawless execution. Work is performed in a centralized manufacturing engineering facility as well as assembly plant with an elevated level of independent judgment.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
  • Leading all new programs, model changes and current production in a specific area.
  • Defining all areas of change, which include product and manufacturing requirements (Automation, equipment, tooling, workstation setup, facility, etc.)
  • Lead OEM and installations contractors to execute the above changes from conception to production.
  • Managing day-to-day activities of a OEM.

  • Efficient material flow understanding for future material movement
  • Develop interfaces, and work with cross functional teams to develop / define Automations , equipment and common tooling and process across whole department and other groups
  • Develop automation , equipment and tooling SORs
  • Develop equipment delivery and installation phase in plans
  • Provide technical direction to and oversight of outside vendor sources
  • Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch and continuous improvement of equipment and tools required in plants to produce high-quality parts.

  • Work will involve some weekends and travel which may be extensive at times in addition to potential off shift timeframes
  • Participating in Program financials and provide spending forecasts
  • Lead Safety Observation Tours
  • Lead weekly Zone Integration Planning meetings (Identify Install Requirements, Phasing, Pull-Ahead Plans, Conveyance Interface, etc.)
  • Ensure timely completion of all ME deliverables to support a flawless launch and achieve launch team release
