Job summary

Curran Recruiting is seeking an Inventory Cost Accountant to support inventory accounting, cost analysis, month-end close, and financial reporting. The role partners with accounting and manufacturing operations to maintain accurate inventory values and standard costs.

The ideal candidate has manufacturing accounting experience, strong Excel skills, and hands-on exposure to inventory/cost accounting. This position requires occasional travel to plant sites and will report to the finance team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2+ years of corporate accounting experience.
• Manufacturing accounting experience required.
• Experience with inventory accounting and/or cost accounting strongly preferred.
• Understanding of standard costing, inventory valuation, general ledger accounting, and month-end close.
• Experience working with a large ERP/accounting system.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to travel occasionally for plant inventory audits.

Responsibilities

• Participate in month-end close activities related to inventory valuation.
• Maintain and analyze standard costs for manufactured products.
• Maintain and review Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Review inventory receiving activity for accuracy.
• Prepare and post inventory-related journal entries.
• Reconcile inventory-related general ledger accounts.
• Review general ledger activity and financial statements for accuracy.
• Maintain documentation supporting standard costs and inventory valuations.
• Create reports, queries, and analysis from accounting and inventory data.
• Assist with audit schedules and supporting documentation.
• Participate in plant inventory cycle count audits.
• Identify discrepancies and assist with inventory accounting resolution.
