The New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading a team of engineers to influence product design to drive predictability and repeatability into operations and improve customer value. The leader and their team will facilitate the cooperation and cohesion between Operations, Engineering, and Program Management during the development and transition of new products to ensure they are manufacturable and ready for rate production. From a business perspective, the candidate will be required to track day-to-day project status, support internal and external customer meetings, ensure project process compliance, support annual NPI strategic and financial planning efforts, and be the Technical focal for their NPI team. In addition, the leader will effectively engage with the different functional groups like design engineering, producibility engineering, test engineering, and quality engineering to drive for robust mistake proofing, quality at the source, design to cost, and design for manufacturing of New Product Introduction programs. From a team management perspective, the candidate will be required to support employee’s development (coaching, mentoring, training, and career development), day-to-day performance management, talent acquisition/retention, and resource management. The candidate should be highly motivated, have a passion to win, innovative, transparent, and diplomatic. The ability to build strong business relationships and the agility to work in a fast-paced environment across a matrix organization are foundational to success in this role. The ideal candidate will understand the product life cycle development process and business systems that support product development and new product transition (i.e.: SAP MRP, Project Systems, PDM, MS Project). The ability to effectively lead high performance teams, consistent with Collins Aerospace corporate and Operations Core Values (the “How” of performance), will be key to the success. Experience with the practical application of Lean/Six Sigma or APQP principles is essential. The New Product Introduction environment provides opportunities to be involved early in the development cycle for new technologies and products, with direct responsibility for quality, cost, and schedule.

What You Will Do:
  • Ensure Operations voice is considered in development decision making.
  • Build collaborative working environment to accomplish team goals.
  • Drive innovation and automation in new product developments.
  • Oversight of the early builds, transition build team, and activities.
  • Prioritize human resources to meet business objectives.
  • Responsible for selection of new employees as well as development and performance management of current employees.
  • Contributes to the development, modification, improvements, and review of New Product Introduction systems, products, processes, reporting methods, and tools.
  • Strives for 100% internal and external customer satisfaction by understanding the customer's needs and providing goods and services that satisfy the customer.
  • Effectively manages and adapts to changing conditions.
  • Able to reflect from situations where things don’t go as planned, as opportunities to improve, and learns from them by preventing reoccurrence through mistake proofing.
  • Effectively manages New Product Introduction programs budget and expenses assigned.
  • Manages schedule adherence, workforce needs, and communication flow to technical stakeholders.
  • Able to effectively communicate complex technical problems to different audiences, including non-technical ones with an appropriate level of detail consistent with the audience.
  • Leads and mentor engineers to support activities involving variability reduction to identify and mitigate process and product risk (DFMEA, PFMEA, etc.).
  • Operates in accordance with Corporate, Operations, and Division policies and practices and in compliance with accepted business practices.
Qualifications You Must Have:

Typically requires University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.

U.S. Citizen Qualifications We Prefer:
  • STEM Degree.
  • New Product Introduction, Engineering, or Operations Experience.
  • Electronics manufacturing experience / knowledge is preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience successfully building and mentoring productive teams.
  • Advanced proficiency applying Lean/Six Sigma or APQP principles.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Project and SAP or similar ERP system.
  • PMP and CSMTA certifications are preferred.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
