Job summary

Great Plains Manufacturing – Kubota Construction Equipment Division seeks a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead the Salina plant startup and implement the Kubota Production System (KPS). The role focuses on building a high-performing ME team, setting up production prototypes, and guiding the final production process.

You will manage safety, quality, delivery and cost metrics while collaborating with production to optimize standard work and capacity planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 8 years’ experience.
• 4+ years of leadership experience in an engineering role.
• Experience in leading lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Agriculture, Construction or Heavy equipment manufacturing experience preferred.
• Strong background in capital assets justification and approval.
• Working knowledge of automated manufacturing processes, and business operating systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe working environment through training, regular communication, auditing for safe practices, and completion of inspection findings.
• Learn KPS principles and teach KPS to the ME team and implement in the new plant.
• Build and lead a new ME team at the Salina plant.
• Manage ME department employees, including reviews and addressing concerns.
• Work with production to develop or revise standard work to achieve quality targets.
• Create the ME schedule and adjust staffing to meet schedules.
• Participate in capacity planning and efficient use of equipment and people.
• Inspect machines and equipment to ensure quality, performance and utilization.
• Manage department KPIs: Safety, People, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
• Mentor and develop manufacturing engineers to support succession planning.
• Follow safety regulations and wear PPE.
