Job summary

Htprof in the St. Joseph, MI area seeks a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineering professionals focused on optimizing plant efficiencies and launching new products.

You will report to the General Manager and drive improvements on the manufacturing floor in a fast-paced automotive environment. The role emphasizes mentoring a team with an average tenure of many years, working on capital projects, and aligning with a GM who has long tenure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; an Associate's may be considered with strong experience.
• At least five years in a similar manufacturing engineering management role with a focus on manufacturing/process engineering.
• Experience in metals environments such as stamping, machining, fabrication.
• Strong continuous improvement background with scrap reductions and efficiency improvements.
• Project management experience including timelines and budgets; experience with product launches; read blueprints; MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, mentor, and organize priorities for engineering personnel on the floor.
• Drive continuous improvement and KPI development across the team.
• Own organization and execution of engineering activities for new product launches.
• Resolve engineering issues directly on the manufacturing floor.
• Collaborate with other department managers, suppliers, and contractors.
• Standardize processes and create detailed engineering plans and SOPs.
• Monitor department labor utilization to keep projects on track.
• Apply Lean methods and data-driven problem solving to high-volume projects.
• Direct capital equipment projects from concept to ROI, including vendor vetting and tool development.
• Collaborate with design engineering to conceptualize projects and tooling.
