Job summary

Life Fitness / Hammer Strength in Ramsey, Minnesota is seeking a Summer Internship in Manufacturing Engineering. You will contribute to a cross-functional project, support day-to-day engineering activities, and gain exposure to manufacturing processes in a global equipment organization.

During the 12-week program, you will work with mentors, apply CAD/3D modeling tools, and develop data-driven recommendations to improve quality, efficiency, and safety.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a full-time bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field, with an expected graduation date in 2028 or 2029.
• Must reside near Ramsey, Minnesota for the duration of the summer internship program.
• Strong academic standing preferred, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5.
• Demonstrated initiative and eagerness to learn.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

About the Role

The Life Fitness / Hammer Strength Summer Internship Program 2027 is designed to provide meaningful, hands‑on experience that supports both professional development and business impact. Successful interns will work on challenging projects aligned with their academic background, receive ongoing mentorship from experienced professionals, and gain exposure to manufacturing engineering processes within a global fitness equipment organization. Throughout the internship, you will contribute to initiatives that support operational excellence, process improvement, and product quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Support day‑to‑day engineering activities and manufacturing processes within the Manufacturing Engineering function.
• Collaborate with fellow interns on a 12‑week cross‑functional case study project and present findings to senior leaders, stakeholders, and managers.
• Utilize Microsoft Office applications and 3D modeling tools to analyze issues, summarize findings, and provide data‑driven recommendations.
• Follow established engineering procedures and standards to deliver high‑quality work accurately and on schedule.
• Support process improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, safety, and productivity.
• Maintain organized project documentation and engineering data throughout assigned projects.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support manufacturing, engineering, and operational objectives.
• Attend team meetings and project reviews to gain exposure to broader business operations and share project updates.

Compensation and Benefits

At Life Fitness / Hammer Strength, we believe in taking care of our team with a comprehensive total rewards package that includes competitive pay and a range of valuable benefits. The base wage range for this position, intended for U.S. applicants, is $24.00 - $27.00 per hour and includes eligibility for overtime. The actual base pay will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities. The range reflected is based on a primary work location of Rosemont, IL and the actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic location. Life Fitness / Hammer Strength provides a valuable and enriching experience for interns.
