Job summary

Vermeer is seeking an engineering intern who enjoys solving technical problems in manufacturing. You will work with a team of engineers and technicians to help drive production improvements and learn how equipment, data, and processes interact on the shop floor.

From day one you will explore safety, process capability, and manufacturing data, and you will help identify improvements to existing processes and equipment. Occasional travel may be involved; the role is onsite at a Vermeer campus.

Qualifications

• Current student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• Desire to dig in and understand the technical details of manufacturing processes including safety, process capability, manufacturing data, capacity planning, and manufacturing flow.
• Prior experience implementing manufacturing equipment, making parts out of steel in manufacturing, continuous improvement, capital justification, managing capital projects, technology transfer, and supporting existing manufacturing cells, preferred but not required.
• Previous internship is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Complete interview and assessment to match your strengths and aptitude to where you will make the biggest impact between our machine shop, welding, weld robotics, paint, assembly engineering, and systems/data teams.
• Learn and understand the job from the operators' perspective and then help determine improvements you can drive to existing processes and equipment.
• Work with a team to implement equipment into manufacturing.
• Work with a team to determine manufacturing data to display that helps improve manufacturing.
• Work with a team on research and development of future equipment, processes, and data.
