Alpine, an ITW Company, seeks a motivated Manufacturing Engineering Intern to support operations at our high-speed stamping facility. You will gain hands-on exposure to manufacturing processes, tooling, automation, and continuous improvement within a fast-paced production environment that supplies components for metal-connected wood trusses.

The role emphasizes applying engineering fundamentals on the floor, improving safety, quality, throughput, and cost, and culminates in presenting a site

Qualifications

• Rising Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution
• Strong interest in manufacturing, automation, and industrial processes
• Basic understanding of engineering principles related to mechanics, materials, electrical systems, or manufacturing processes
• Exposure to controls, PLCs, sensors, or industrial automation is a plus
• Proficiency with software such as AutoCAD and Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and PowerBI)
• Ability to learn quickly, work independently with guidance, and manage multiple tasks
• Willingness to spend time on the manufacturing floor in an industrial environment

Responsibilities

• Support manufacturing engineers in daily production activities on a high‑speed stamping line
• Assist with process optimization focusing on safety, quality, efficiency, scrap reduction, and uptime
• Perform time studies, line balancing, and capacity analysis for stamping and secondary operations
• Support tooling, die, and press projects including setup improvements
• Troubleshoot manufacturing issues related to equipment, material flow, and quality
• Develop and update standard work and process documentation
• Participate in 5S, kaizen events, and root-cause analysis
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support initiatives
• Complete a site-specific engineering project and present results to leadership
