Job summary

First Solar is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Internship in the United States to gain hands-on experience with high-volume solar panel manufacturing equipment. You will work with a cross-functional team to monitor daily production performance, solve problems, and participate in projects to improve safety, quality, and productivity.

The internship typically follows a Monday–Friday, 8a-5p schedule in the manufacturing plant.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
Encourages internship registration with college or university.

Responsibilities

Assist manufacturing technicians, engineers and leadership.
Solve day-to-day production equipment and process challenges.
Identify and implement product performance improvements.
Monitor and analyze production process data; perform statistical analysis.
Execute planned process experiments, report experimental results.
Create training on production floor and in classroom.
Develop or update documentation such as process work instructions and control plans.
Develop a complete understanding of area processes, equipment, and support systems.
Maintain effective communication with cross functional team members.
Interface with internal associates, supplier representatives, and education institutions as required.
Adhere to all safety procedures and good housekeeping standards.
Adhere to all environmental health standards including handling of waste and hazardous materials.
