Job summary

LG Energy Solution Michigan, Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Intern to support engineers on the battery production floor, learning general battery production processes and materials.

You will gain hands-on experience, participate in process improvements, and prepare documentation to help scale manufacturing as part of a fast-growing automotive battery leader.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering (junior or senior).
• GPA 3.0 or higher.
• Flexible and adaptable to new tasks.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Demonstrated teamwork and goal-oriented mindset.
• Korean-English bilingual preferred.
• Must be able to commute to Lansing, MI with a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot machines with engineers and operators to maximize yield and OEE.
• Interface with plant and office teams, suppliers, and contractors.
• Evaluate production methods for quality and efficiency improvements.
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures for floor deployment.
• Support process development with procedures, forms, checklists, and schedules.
• Research new technologies, equipment, and supplies to enhance operations.

Description

As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern at LG Energy Solution, you will be assisting and supporting an Engineer in one of the three major battery-manufacturing departments. The specific learning objectives for the intern would be to learn general battery production process; understand battery materials – strength and composition; practical application of locking mechanisms and fasteners.

Responsibilities

• Work with engineers and operators to troubleshoot the machines on the production floor to ensure highest yield and Optimal Equipment Efficiency
• Interface with team members in the plant and office, as well as external suppliers, contractors, etc.
• Evaluate existing procedures and production methods for opportunities to improve quality and efficiency
• Improve production processes by creating various standard operating procedures ensure understanding and correct implementation to floor
• Develop procedures, forms, checklists, and schedules to support process development and improvement
• Research new technologies, equipment, supplies to help improve the operation

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering -Junior or Senior standing
• Minimum GPA requirement of 3.0 GPA or higher
• Ability to be flexible and adapt to new tasks and projects
• Strong problem-solving, critical thinking and analytical skills
• Demonstrated teamwork and effectiveness in accomplishing goals
• Korean English Bilingual Strongly preferred.
• Must be able to commute and work one in Lansing, MI facility. with a valid driver's license and a transportation.
