Minimum two years toward an engineering degree plus basic Lean Six Sigma knowledge are required. Relocation is offered and visa sponsorship is not provided for this role.

Boston Whaler - Edgewater, FL - Manufacturing Engineering Intern

Location: Edgewater, FL

Pay Range:$18.00-$26.00

Position Overview:

We are seeking a result-oriented Manufacturing Engineering Intern to increase productivity and reduce operations cost through the reengineering of the manufacturing process. This role is in Edgewater, FL

Essential Functions:
  • Analyzing manufacturing processes using engineering tools and techniques.
  • Conducting different industrial engineering studies and analysis such as manpower forecasts, capacity analysis, resource leveling, etc.
  • Assisting in the implementation and utilization of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools and methodologies.
  • Studying and analyzing variation in critical manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain documentation on related studies and analysis.
  • Performing related assignments as required.
  • 3D-Modeling of plant layout to be used to assist in building layouts

This internship will be a full-time commitment from May to August 2027

Internship Projects to include:
  • Fiberglass mold creation for Sea Ray, Boston Whaler, and Navan new product
  • Creating specification prints that vendors will build new parts from
  • New product design reviews and cad creation of future new models for these 3 brands
  • Participating in the building, testing, and validation of new marine products

Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years towards a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Basic Lean Six Sigma knowledge
  • Experience utilizing engineering tools and methods in a manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Access, MS Project.
  • Strong communication, people skills and ability to work independently on assigned tasks within a quick-paced, fiberglass / resin environment.
  • To be considered for the internship, candidates must be authorized to work in the United States immediately, without the need for sponsorship, now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Desired coursework completed in Statistics, Work Measurement and Design, and Quality Engineering.
  • 3-D modeling skills and simulation experience
  • Boating, fishing and/or marine industry knowledge desirable
  • Boating, fishing and/or marine industry experience is beneficial but not required.
  • Good interpersonal skills

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $26.00 per hour. The actual hourly rate offered will vary depending on multiple factors including year in school/credits earned, degree, job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location.
