Pay Rate: $160k to $200k/Year (Commensurate with experience) plus Excellent Benefits
Location: Stanton, CA
We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineering & Facilities Director to develop and expand manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, and facilities capabilities for a growing industrial technology business. This role will establish scalable manufacturing processes, assembly and testing infrastructure, production equipment, and facility systems supporting complex electromechanical products. The successful candidate will partner with design, quality, supply chain, and production teams to improve manufacturability, production readiness, capacity, and operational efficiency. This position combines functional leadership with direct technical involvement in manufacturing systems, facility planning, and capital project execution.
- Establish and lead manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, and facilities capabilities aligned with business growth and product industrialization plans.
- Develop manufacturing capability roadmaps covering facility readiness, equipment investment, technical staffing, and process improvement.
- Create and optimize assembly processes, manufacturing workflows, production routings, standardized work instructions, tooling, and fixtures.
- Collaborate with design engineering on design for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA), including tolerances, component accessibility, serviceability, and product testability.
- Support pilot builds and production-intent builds, identify manufacturing issues, and implement corrective improvements before production scaling.
- Plan and optimize factory layouts encompassing assembly, testing, material movement, storage, equipment, office space, and customer-facing areas.
- Define facility infrastructure needs, including utilities, high-power electrical systems, production test infrastructure, lifting and handling equipment, and environmental requirements.
- Evaluate production capacity, bottlenecks, labor content, line balancing, work-in-process, ergonomics, material flow, and space utilization.
- Implement Lean manufacturing, Lean Six Sigma methods, 5S, visual management, standardized work, and structured problem-solving practices.
- Lead technical specification, supplier evaluation, installation, commissioning, and operational handoff of manufacturing equipment, fixtures, and test systems.
- Manage capital equipment and facility projects, including technical scope, budgets, schedules, supplier coordination, commissioning, and acceptance.
- Support supplier manufacturing readiness through feasibility reviews, process-risk assessments, APQP/PPAP activities, validation documentation, and technical transfers.
- Partner with engineering, quality, supply chain, production, finance, marketing, and external suppliers to resolve manufacturing and infrastructure challenges.
- Establish manufacturing documentation, engineering change processes, equipment reliability practices, and production-readiness standards.
- Identify future technical staffing needs and participate in recruiting and hiring engineers as the manufacturing organization expands.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline; an equivalent combination of relevant education and directly applicable experience may be considered.
- At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, industrialization, or a closely related field.
- At least 5 years leading technical teams or substantial cross-functional manufacturing programs, with responsibility for priorities, resources, and deliverables.
- Demonstrated experience developing assembly processes, production tooling, fixtures, manufacturing documentation, and equipment implementation plans.
- Experience with facility planning, production layouts, capacity analysis, and manufacturing infrastructure.
- Proven involvement in capital equipment, facility, or infrastructure projects from requirements definition through implementation.
- Experience supporting a factory startup, expansion, relocation, or manufacturing transfer.
- Working knowledge of DFM/DFA, engineering change control, Lean manufacturing, structured problem-solving, and production-readiness methods.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and manufacturing requirements.
- Strong project management, financial analysis, supplier coordination, and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Experience working with suppliers or contract manufacturers on technical transfers and manufacturing readiness.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, digital manufacturing documentation, CAD or facility-layout tools, and maintenance-management systems.
- Experience in an ISO 9001 or comparable quality-management environment.
- Ability to balance strategic functional leadership with hands‑on technical execution.
- Experience with rotating equipment, motors, generators, turbo-machinery, precision assemblies, or comparable industrial equipment is preferred.
- Familiarity with high-power electrical infrastructure, production test systems, power electronics, instrumentation, liquid cooling, or electromechanical testing is an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with rotating equipment, motors, generators, turbo-
- machinery, precision assemblies, or comparable industrial equipment.
- Experience defining operational requirements for high-power electrical
- infrastructure, production test systems, and supporting utilities in an
- industrial environment.
- Exposure to electrical assembly, power electronics, instrumentation,
- liquid cooling, or electro‑mechanical production testing.
