Job description

Senior Manufacturing Engineer
Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to establish and lead manufacturing engineering processes for a growing manufacturer of complex energy and power systems. This role focuses on translating product designs and engineering requirements into safe, efficient, repeatable, and cost-effective manufacturing operations. You will develop manufacturing standards, production routings, work instructions, labor standards, tooling requirements, and capacity models, while driving continuous improvement across the production floor. You will also play a key role in implementing and optimizing ERP and manufacturing execution systems to improve production visibility, workflow, inventory control, and cost accuracy. The ideal candidate combines strong technical manufacturing expertise with hands‑on production experience and the ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing processes, production routings, standard work, assembly procedures, and visual work instructions.
  • Translate engineering designs and bills of materials into practical, production-ready manufacturing processes.
  • Evaluate tooling, fixtures, equipment, workstation layouts, and material presentation.
  • Establish documentation standards, revision controls, and manufacturing process governance.
  • Establish work centers, labor standards, cycle times, capacity models, and production requirements.
  • Conduct cycle-time, throughput, line-balancing, and bottleneck analyses.
  • Improve production flow, workstation layouts, material movement, work-in-process control, and replenishment processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, safety, and manufacturing costs.
  • Lead manufacturing engineering requirements for ERP, MES, and digital shop-floor system implementations.
  • Develop and validate manufacturing routings, work centers, labor standards, manufacturing BOMs, and material-consumption processes.
  • Improve production-order workflows, material tracking, inventory transactions, labor reporting, and order completion.
  • Partner with Finance, Production, and Materials teams to improve product costing, variance analysis, and capacity visibility.
  • Validate manufacturing data and ensure system processes accurately reflect actual shop-floor operations.
  • Lead manufacturing-readiness activities for new products, product revisions, and pilot builds.
  • Develop launch documentation covering BOMs, routings, work instructions, tooling, inspection requirements, and training.
  • Coordinate production readiness with Engineering, Quality, Materials, Procurement, and Operations.
  • Manage manufacturing impacts of engineering changes, including revision control, rework, work-in-process disposition, and employee training.
  • Identify lessons learned and implement improvements before full production release.
  • Troubleshoot production interruptions, tooling issues, process inefficiencies, quality defects, and material-flow problems.
  • Lead root-cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Apply Lean manufacturing principles, including 5S, value-stream mapping, standard work, kaizen, visual management, and waste reduction.
  • Partner with Quality to improve inspection processes, defect prevention, and first-pass yield.
  • Train production employees and supervisors on new and revised manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain a hands‑on presence on the production floor to validate processes and drive sustainable improvements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Five or more years of experience in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, process engineering, or production systems.
  • Experience developing manufacturing routings, work instructions, labor standards, tooling, fixtures, and production-readiness plans.
  • Background in complex electrical, electromechanical, industrial automation, power electronics, engineered-to-order, configure-to-order, or assembly-based manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of ERP or MES systems, including production orders, routings, work centers, labor reporting, material consumption, and work-in-process tracking.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects and implementing sustainable process improvements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, project-management, and communication skills.
  • Practical knowledge of Lean manufacturing and root-cause analysis.
  • Ability to work directly with production teams in an active manufacturing environment.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience implementing or upgrading ERP, MES, WMS, or digital shop-floor systems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or comparable manufacturing software.
  • Experience with CAD and PLM platforms such as Autodesk Fusion, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar tools.
  • Experience designing manufacturing tooling, fixtures, workstations, or production layouts.
  • Familiarity with electrical control panels, variable-frequency drives, industrial enclosures, or power systems.
  • Knowledge of ISO-based quality systems and manufacturing safety requirements.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Certified Manufacturing Engineer, or similar certification.
