Job summary

RTX is seeking a Department Manager in Andover, MA to lead a multi‑discipline Manufacturing Engineering team across machining, cables, and undersea areas. You will partner with leadership to set targets, drive improvements, and deliver high‑quality solutions throughout the product life cycle.

You will build strong technical talent, manage budgets, and foster a high‑performance culture, with on‑site presence at Andover and Portsmouth, RI, and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM and 12+ years in relevant roles; 5+ years in management.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain DoD security clearance.
• Leadership in a technical manufacturing environment with talent development.
• Lean manufacturing, complex problem solving and continuous improvement.
• Expert knowledge of manufacturing engineering tools and product lifecycle.
• Cross-functional experience across Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, Factory, and Program Operations.
• Experience with management processes: EACs, project management, risk & opportunity, staffing.
• Experience in financial planning, analysis, and cost accounting.
• Technical acumen in manufacture, test, and integration of complex technologies.
• Knowledge of high-speed machining and GD&T.
• Knowledge of cables manufacturing: terminations, harness, lacing, shielding.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multi-site manufacturing engineering organization of 50–100 engineers across locations.
• Partner to establish strategic priorities, targets, and metrics aligned with business goals.
• Build and oversee section leadership for readiness, execution, problem solving, and CI.
• Plan staffing and funding to support factory and program requirements.
• Lead strategic initiatives and collaborate with other functions to hit targets.
• Own and manage indirect budgets at department level.
• Develop talent through performance and career development.
• Foster a high-performance culture built on trust, accountability, collaboration, and innovation.
