Job summary

RTX is offering a co-op/internship opportunity in Manchester, IA, focused on industrial engineering and manufacturing. You will collaborate with engineers and operators to improve product flow, quality and safety, while developing fixtures using laser machines and 3D printers.

You will gain hands-on experience in aerospace manufacturing environments, learn to manage multiple projects, and observe what it is like to work as an engineer in the industry.

Qualifications

• Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related STEM major through the completion of the co-op session.
• Completed at least 60 credit hours prior to the start of the internship/co-op session.

Responsibilities

• Work with Industrial Engineers, production floor operators, and manufacturing support staff to resolve issues related to product flow, quality, ergonomics, and safety using state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques.
• Develop or improve designs for fixtures or tooling to aid in manufacturing processes, including building, verifying, and implementing those fixtures using laser machines, 3D printers, and other manufacturing equipment.
• Identify root causes of manufacturing defects and process inefficiencies, and implement effective corrective actions.
• Program and operate manufacturing equipment such as laser machines and 3D printers to support fixture development.
• Assist in the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.

• Knowledge or experience with 3D modeling or laser cutting.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
