Job summary

PCNA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Co-Op Intern to assist in designing fixtures and tooling, documenting repeatable processes, and establishing design guides. You will contribute to process improvements and tooling records while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

The intern will work on 2D/3D drafting, SolidWorks, and standard tooling procedures, gaining hands-on experience in manufacturing engineering.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing BS in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
  • Experience with SolidWorks.
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design manufacturing tooling for new products, machined or additively manufactured.
  • Adhere to tooling standards and document procedures.
  • Create and maintain tooling/fixture records with clear process documentation.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions using data.
  • Support cross-functional targeted improvement projects.
  • Aid in updating consumable parts inventory records.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

The Position

PCNA is seeking a manufacturing engineering intern to assist the manufacturing engineering in their mission to improve quality and efficiency. The primary responsibility of this candidate will be to design fixtures and tooling used in various manufacturing processes, documenting and establishing a repeatable process and design guide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design manufacturing tooling for new products, which will be either machined or fabricated by additive processes
  • Adhere to and further develop tooling standards
  • Create & document procedures for process equipment, ensuring that procedures ensure operator & technician safety at all times.
  • Develop & implement a system to maintain tooling / fixture records
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, particularly machine efficiency and cost reductions, utilizing data-driven methods.
  • Assist with updating consumable parts inventory records
  • Participate in cross functional targeted improvement projects.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office package
  • Experience with 2D & 3D drafting software
  • Capable of performing process and equipment troubleshooting, root cause analysis and corrective action formulation
  • Attention to detail, particularly with respect to developing process documentation

Minimum Qualifications

  • Pursuing BS in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • Eagerness to learn and take initiative
  • Experience with Solidworks
