Job summary

RBC Bearings is seeking an Engineering Co-Op to support manufacturing processes and problem solving in an industrial setting. You will research production issues, assist with operating system improvements, and help develop standards for tooling and methods.

You will participate in safety programs, apply advanced technologies such as machine automation, 3D printing, robotics, CNC programming, and tool design, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts across scrap reduction, downtime, FPY,

Qualifications

  • Must be actively enrolled in an accredited university in the study of Mechanical Engineering.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus.
  • Frequently required to stand and/or sit.
  • Regularly required to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel or crouch.

Responsibilities

  • Be an active participant in the Dodge safety program.
  • Create, improve and implement manufacturing processes using state of the art technologies such as machine automation, 3D printing, robotics, gear hobbing, induction heat treating, CNC programming and tool design.
  • Develops and drives implementation of best practices, routines, and innovative solutions to improve production rates and output quality. Scope includes but not limited to scrap reduction, downtime reduction, FPY increase, OEE increase and warranty PPM reduction.
  • Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, and other best practice tools and principles for day-to-day problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Analyze and plan workflow, equipment placement and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Assist manufacturing engineering in support of the business/production unit.
  • Attend and participate in regular engineering meetings.
  • Participate in project engineering efforts associated with equipment, tooling, and materials.
  • Assist the quality department to develop standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
  • Assist in the recording, evaluating, and reporting of quality and reliability data.

Job Summary:
