Overall Summary

This position is responsible for developing and implementing optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. It involves recommending and implementing improvements to production processes, supporting design for manufacturability, and providing expertise in welding design and fixture development for large systems. Familiarity with welding codes, standards, and fabrication processes is essential.

Primary and Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Oversee analysis and design of lean manufacturing cells to optimize space, equipment, material, and personnel utilization.
  2. Prepare and maintain detailed process layouts and related documentation.
  3. Coordinate manufacturing launch of new or revised products, including goal setting, team training, and evaluation.
  4. Collaborate with management, engineering, and other departments regarding manufacturing capabilities and schedules.
  5. Develop work aids and documentation for assembly training.
  6. Consult with supply chain and engineering teams on product design and tooling for efficient production.
  7. Design, develop, test, source, and justify costs for manufacturing tools and equipment.
  8. Engage with vendors to specify and procure machinery and equipment.
  9. Apply statistical methods for process analysis to improve quality, reduce costs, and increase efficiency.
  10. Represent manufacturing or engineering in cross-functional teams.
  11. Support organizational mission, values, and culture.
  12. Adhere to quality and safety standards.
  13. Perform other assigned duties and support various projects.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in cross-functional teams and work groups as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This role does not involve supervisory responsibilities.

Years of Experience

Minimum 5 years of related experience, including expertise in welding and fabrication of large systems.

Level of Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering; CWI/CW Eng certifications preferred.

Qualifications

Experience / Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Proficiency in English (reading, speaking, understanding).
  • Experience with fabrication and welding of large systems.
  • NPI and robotic welding experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar; CNC programming desired.
  • Strong understanding of product specifications.
  • Ability to manage multiple products through manufacturing.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to quality and detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration across levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems; SAP experience is a plus.

Work environment includes typical office settings with adequate climate control. Exposure to manufacturing areas may involve noise, dust, fumes, and temperature fluctuations. Use of standard office equipment is routine, and PPE is required in certain areas.

Physical Demands

  • Meet safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
  • Alternate between sitting and standing/walking for extended periods.
  • Occasionally lift supplies up to 50 pounds.
  • Wear PPE as required.

Training

  • Participate in safety orientation and training on tools/software as needed.
