NY Monda Window and Door, Inc. in New York seeks a Manufacturing Engineer - Quality Control & R&D to own day-to-day engineering support, quality systems, fenestration certification, and equipment reliability for vinyl and aluminum window operations.

You will work with Production, Operations, Sales, Purchasing, QC, vendors, testing labs, and certification agencies to drive improvements, certifications, and new product introductions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of manufacturing/industrial/quality/product-engineering experience; fenestration or related fields preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or a related engineering field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Ability to read and write Chinese and communicate effectively in English.
• Working knowledge of fenestration testing and certification requirements (NFRC, AAMA/FGIA, ASTM).
• Proficiency with CAD (SolidWorks/AutoCAD), MS Office, technical docs, and data analysis.
• Experience with 8D/CAPA, PFMEA, control plans, 5S, Kaizen, and DOE.
• Ability to set priorities, coordinate work, coach others, and stay accountable.
• Comfort working with operators, mechanics, vendors, labs, certification agencies, and suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Report to the Director of Operations and support engineering, quality, R&D, certification, and equipment-reliability priorities.
• First 30 days: learn vinyl/aluminum products, processes, machinery, tooling, and NFRC/AAMA/FGIA requirements.
• First 60 days: organize defect/CAPA log, PM priorities, documentation, and certification calendar.
• By 90 days: own engineering/quality workflow; launch 5S on a production line and weekly quality scorecard.
• Provide hands-on engineering and production support for troubleshooting, capability, tooling, and process issues.
• Own incoming, in-process, and final quality systems; lead root-cause analysis and verify CAPA actions.
• Lead NFRC/AAMA/FGIA certification activities including testing, audits, renewals, and changes.
• Lead R&D for new window products; coordinate prototypes, pilot builds, testing, reviews, and releases.
• Coordinate priorities with Mechanic/QC Technician; oversee repairs, maintenance, and actions.
• Reduce downtime, scrap, and changes while improving OEE, yield, safety, and flow.

As our Manufacturing Engineer - Quality Control & R&D, you will own the day-to-day engineering support, quality systems, research and development, fenestration certification, and equipment‑reliability work for our vinyl and aluminum window operations. You will work closely with Production, Operations, Sales, Purchasing, the shop mechanic, the QC technician, vendors, testing laboratories, and certification agencies.

Our ideal candidate is organized, self‑directed, practical, data‑driven, and willing to spend significant time on the production floor. You do not stop after writing a report; you follow the problem through until the solution is implemented, verified, and sustained.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES MAY INCLUDE

• Report directly to the Director of Operations and support the company's engineering, quality, R&D, certification, and equipment‑reliability priorities.
• First 30 days: Learn our vinyl and aluminum products, manufacturing processes, machinery, tooling, quality controls, open technical issues, and current NFRC/AAMA/FGIA certification requirements.
• First 60 days: Establish a practical working rhythm with the Mechanic and QC Technician; organize the defect/CAPA log, preventive‑maintenance priorities, engineering documentation, and certification calendar.
• By 90 days: Take ownership of the engineering and quality workflow, launch 5S and standard work on at least one production line, and implement a visible weekly scorecard for quality, downtime, scrap, and improvement actions.
• Provide hands‑on engineering and production support for process troubleshooting, machine capability, tooling, fixtures, work methods, and urgent production issues.
• Own incoming, in‑process, and final quality systems. Set inspection standards, monitor defects and returns, lead root‑cause analysis, and verify corrective and preventive actions are completed and effective.
• Manage NFRC, AAMA/FGIA, and applicable ASTM certification and compliance activities, including testing schedules, document control, audits, renewals, and engineering changes that may affect certified products.
• Lead and support R&D for new window products, profiles, hardware, materials, assemblies, and manufacturing methods. Coordinate prototypes, pilot builds, testing, design reviews, and controlled production release.
• Coordinate priorities and follow‑through for the Mechanic and QC Technician, including equipment repair, preventive maintenance, inspections, corrective actions, engineering support, and R&D work.
• Reduce downtime, scrap, rework, changeover time while improving OEE, first‑pass yield, safety, and production flow using practical lean, 5S, Kaizen, and data‑based problem solving.
• Create and maintain SOPs, work instructions, drawings, BOMs, routings, inspection plans, control plans, PFMEAs, maintenance records, test reports, and engineering‑change documentation.
• Support OSHA and machine‑safety requirements, including guarding, lockout/tagout, ergonomics, and safe implementation of equipment or process changes.
• By 6 months: Improve OEE by 10%, reduce scrap by 15%, reduce internal/customer quality issues by 30%, reduce unplanned downtime by 20%, and complete at least one meaningful product, tooling, equipment, or process‑improvement pilot.
• By 12 months: Have stable engineering, quality, certification, and maintenance systems in place with clear ownership, current documentation, reliable follow‑up, and measurable year‑over‑year improvement.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE NEEDED

To be successful in this role, you will be a quick learner who is disciplined, thorough, detail‑oriented, and known for strong follow‑up and follow‑through. You should be comfortable managing several priorities at once, working independently, and spending approximately half of your time in the production environment.

REQUIRED

• 5+ years of manufacturing, industrial, mechanical, quality, or product‑engineering experience; window/fenestration, building‑products, or discrete‑fabrication experience is strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or a related engineering field, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• Ability to read and write Chinese and communicate effectively in English.
• Working knowledge of fenestration testing and certification requirements, including NFRC, AAMA/FGIA, and applicable ASTM standards.
• Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, technical documentation, and production‑data analysis.
• Experience with root‑cause analysis, 8D/CAPA, PFMEA, control plans, 5S, Kaizen, value‑stream mapping, and practical continuous‑improvement tools.
• Demonstrated ability to set technical priorities, coordinate work, follow up consistently, coach others, and hold commitments accountable.
• Comfort working directly with operators, mechanics, vendors, testing laboratories, certification agencies, and equipment suppliers.

PREFERRED

• Experience with IGU processes, vinyl welding, aluminum fabrication, hardware‑installation cells, window testing, and product‑performance troubleshooting.
• Experience managing NFRC CPD records, AAMA/FGIA certification programs, audits, laboratory testing, renewals, and engineering changes affecting certified products.
• Working knowledge of basic statistics/DOE, gauge R&R, capability studies, PLC/HMI fundamentals, and machine‑safety systems.
• Experience with new‑equipment commissioning, new‑product introduction, BOM/routing setup, pilot runs, and ramp‑to‑rate.

COMPENSATION, BENEFITS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Salary: $70,000-$85,000 base, plus performance bonus.

• Monday-Friday, primarily day shift, with occasional off‑shift support for trials, equipment issues, testing, audits, or production startups.
