Job description

The ME needs to have work instructions experience, process engineering knowledge, and customer interaction experience in a high mix, low volume electronics environment.

Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Electronics & Box Build)

The Mission: We build complex, high-reliability electronics. Because we operate in a high-mix, low-volume environment, our floor is constantly evolving. We aren't looking for a \"cog in the machine\"; we need the person who tunes the machine. You’ll be the bridge between a design on a screen and a physical product shipping out the door.

What You’ll Actually Do:

Own the Process: You’ll design, troubleshoot, and optimize the workflows for both PCB assembly (SMT) and full \"box build\" integration. If there’s a bottleneck in the production flow, you’re the one who identifies it and re-engineers the layout to fix it.

Champion DFx: You’ll sit down with the design team and customers early in the cycle. You’re the reality check—ensuring that what’s being designed can actually be manufactured efficiently and reliably without driving the cost through the roof.

Be the Root Cause Expert: When yield drops or a defect pops up, you don't just put a band-aid on it. You’ll partner with Quality to perform deep-dive root cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions.

Control the Chaos: You’ll manage ECOs (Engineering Change Orders), generate clear-cut work instructions, and ensure that when a product change happens, the floor doesn’t miss a beat.

Tooling & Layout: You’ll design the assembly cells and specify the tooling. You know that a well-organized workspace is the difference between a smooth run and a disaster.

The Tech Stack & Environment:

High-Mix/Low-Volume: You enjoy the variety of shifting between different products and assemblies rather than watching the same part move for six months.

PCBA & SMT: You should know your way around solder profiles, component placement, and IPC standards.

Electro-Mechanical: This isn’t just boards; it’s the whole box. You’ll be dealing with the mechanical assembly and testing requirements that go with it.

What You Bring to the Bench:

The Experience: You’ve spent at least 7 years in the trenches of electronics manufacturing. You’ve seen what works, what fails, and why.

The Education: A Bachelor’s in ME, EE, or IE (or the equivalent \"battle-tested\" combination of education and hands-on experience).

Technical Intuition: You have an in-depth understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DfM). You can look at a layout and immediately spot where the assembly tech is going to struggle.

The Mindset: You’re comfortable with independent judgment. We don't want to micromanage you; we want you to tell us how to make our production floor better.
