Job summary

Collins Aerospace, a RTX company, is seeking an Onsite role in Simpsonville, SC to join our Operations team. You will help manage manufacturing processes from inception to delivery, applying Lean principles and EH&S practices to improve efficiency and safety.

You will collaborate with the New Product Introduction team to bring programs to production, develop equipment, and maintain rigorous documentation and change management.

Qualifications

  • University degree in a related field with 5+ years of experience, or an advanced degree with 3+ years.
  • Lean manufacturing tools and process improvement experience.
  • Experience writing work instructions.
  • Experience with aerospace/military procedures, specifications, and regulations.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and general IT literacy.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with New Product Introduction to bring programs to production.
  • Identify all tools, equipment and fixtures required to manufacture the product to specifications.
  • Drive efficiency by innovating assembly and manufacturing processes.
  • Eliminate wasted resources to improve manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to safety standards.
  • Develop or acquire equipment for productivity and safety improvements.
  • Coordinate with EH&S to resolve ergonomic issues and safety concerns.
  • Maintain documentation of process changes and change-management procedures.
  • Analyze data with operations to drive root-cause problem solving.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and manage changes.
  • Apply Lean principles to set up work cells and standardize processes.

What You Will Do:
  • Work with the New Product Introduction team to bring new programs/products to production and ensure products meet cost, delivery, and customer & internal specification requirements including coordinating efforts with design and quality engineering
  • Identify all tools, equipment and fixtures required to manufacture the product to specifications
  • Work with operations team to drive efficiency by innovating our assembly and manufacturing processes
  • Improve both manufacturing processes by eliminating wasted resources
  • Ensure a safe working environment is set and maintained
  • Develop, design, acquire, or create new equipment for improved productivity, efficiency, and safety
  • Work with EH&S to identify and resolve ergonomic issues and other safety concerns
  • Maintain excellent documentation of process changes and follow existing change management processes
  • Analyze data, interact with operations, and collect information to achieve root cause problem solving
  • Identify, assess feasibility, and manage change for continuous improvement initiatives
  • Utilize Lean principles to set up and improve work cells including: 5S Workplace Organization, Value Stream Mapping, Visual Factory Management, Error Proofing, Total Productive Maintenance, Kaizen, Kanban/Pull Systems, Set‑Up Reduction, and Standard Work.
  • Read and understand customer/internal documentation, blueprints, and electrical schematics.
  • Travel up to 10%.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Demonstrated use of Lean Manufacturing tools and process improvement
  • Experience in writing work instructions
  • Experience of Military and Aerospace procedures, specifications, and regulations
  • Fluent with desktop computers and ability to use Microsoft office with proficiency
  • Experience in new product introduction or product lifecycle processes
  • Working knowledge of cable and harness assemblies
  • Familiarity with the use of AutoCAD and SolidWorks systems
  • Experience with document control programs such as PDM.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
