Job description

The Manufacturing Engineer (ME) at A-dec designs, implements, sustains, and improves manufacturing processes and systems to optimize quality, safety, delivery, and cost. The role collaborates cross‑functionally to resolve production stoppages, ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and support operational excellence initiatives in part fabrication and assembly.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to resolve production issues such as quality escalations, machine downtime, and part shortages.
  • Guide ME Technicians in the first response to production support issues.
  • Collect data and perform work analysis to establish and update part fabrication and product assembly ERP routes.
  • Support ERP and PLM system accuracy and effectiveness for managing manufacturing process and engineering design change.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing work instructions, ensuring proper access, review, approval, training, and change management.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, utilizing value stream mapping, kaizen, lean strategies, and Six Sigma statistical methods to reduce waste and optimize processes.
  • Provide written and verbal project updates with appropriate frequency and detail.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally to understand part, product, and process variability using structured problem‑solving techniques and statistical methods.
  • Use data analytics to inform decision‑making.
  • Collaborate with production leadership to develop, monitor, and improve a balanced scorecard that includes metrics and KPIs for quality, inventory, delivery, and safety.
  • Participate in evaluating internal and external quality data to drive product and process improvements and execute Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) initiatives.
  • Collaborate with subject‑matter experts to design and implement processes meeting all applicable safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Support new product introduction activities, such as design reviews, tool/fixture planning, work cell design and validation, and inspection methodology.
  • Monitor and communicate progress, including risk mitigation recommendations to achieve project targets.
  • Make timely recommendations to inform capital and expense budgets, providing technical and financial justifications.
  • Deploy new equipment and related processes, ensuring safety, training, preventive maintenance, documentation, and process controls are validated.
  • Develop competence in varied manufacturing processes, including machining, assembly, welding, and special processes.
  • Improve machine center part families, programs, tooling, and setup standards.
  • Utilize CAD/CAM systems to perform design work for tools/fixtures, process area layouts, design review, and document creation.
  • Support quality control methods for inspection, testing, and process monitoring.
Qualifications
  • Effective cross‑functional communication skills (oral, written, and illustrative).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage time effectively while navigating changes in priorities.
  • Ability to work independently with moderate supervision and mentorship.
  • Ability to develop and communicate clear recommendations with justification to help educate and drive change.
  • Knowledge of corporate quality management systems (QMS) and manufacturing quality and process control methodologies.
  • Root cause analysis (RCA) skills and ability to manage corrective and preventive actions.
  • Proven problem‑solving analytic skills.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma methodology (preferred).
  • Ability to develop and execute a project plan.
  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, industrial engineering, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated moderate to advanced computer skills, including 2D/3D CAD systems such as AutoCAD or Inventor.
  • Solid understanding and experience with ERP/MRP and similar manufacturing systems.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise maneuver up to 35 pounds on a routine basis.
  • Manual hand dexterity to grasp, operate tools, and equipment repetitively.
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, and occasionally kneel, climb steps, and twist throughout an entire shift.
  • Exposure to chemicals, noise, vibration, and/or dust in certain areas; use of appropriate personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and foot protection is required.
