With an environment that encourages and assists each person in developing to their highest potential, a career at A-dec is incredibly rewarding.

Overview

The Manufacturing Engineer (ME) designs, implements, sustains, and improves manufacturing processes and systems optimizing quality, safety, delivery, and cost. They collaborate cross-functionally to ensure root causes of production stoppages and constraints are well understood and resolved. The ME ensures production processes comply with applicable safety and regulatory standards while also meeting capacity and capability requirements.

The ME is typically aligned to the operational excellence (OpEx) goals and initiatives in part fabrication and assembly processes. OpEx is centered on the identification and execution of high impact process improvements that reduce waste and foster innovative solutions that help A-dec operations deliver consistent manufacturing value to all internal product segments.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides technical support to resolve production issues (quality escalations, machine down, part shortage, etc.). Guides ME Technicians focused on first response of production support issues.
  • Performs all necessary data collection and work analysis to establish and update part fabrication and/or product assembly Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) routes (setup and run times, operation sequence, etc.).
  • Supports ERP and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system accuracy and effectiveness for managing manufacturing process and engineering design change. Contributes to the development of standards and related documentation.
  • Creates and maintains manufacturing work instructions to ensure appropriate access, review/approval, training, and change management.
  • Contributes to continuous improvement (CI) initiatives to optimize processes, reduce waste, and improve product quality. Utilizes value stream mapping, kaizen, lean strategies and six sigma statistical methods to reduce waste and optimize systems.
  • Provides written and verbal project updates with appropriate frequency and detail.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to understand part/product/process variability utilizing structured problem-solving techniques and statistical methods. Uses data analytics to inform decision-making.
  • Collaborates with production leadership to develop, monitor and improve a balanced scorecard that includes metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for quality, inventory, delivery, and safety.
  • Participates in the evaluation of internal and external quality data to drive product/process improvements and execute assigned Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) initiatives.
  • Collaborates with appropriate subject matter experts to design and implement processes that meet all applicable safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Completes assigned tasks in support of new product introduction (NPI). Tasks may include design reviews, tool/fixture planning, work cell design and validation, and inspection methodology. Monitors and communicates progress, including risk mitigation recommendations to achieve project targets.
  • Makes timely recommendations to inform capital and expense budgets. Provides alternatives along with technical and financial justifications. Deploys new equipment and related processes ensuring safety, training, preventive maintenance, documentation, and process controls are validated.
  • Develops competence in varied manufacturing processes such as machining, assembly, welding, and special processes. Improves machine center part families, programs, tooling, and setup standards.
  • Utilizes Computer-Aided Design and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) systems to efficiently perform necessary design work for tools/fixtures or process area layouts, design review, and document creation.
  • Supports appropriate quality control methods for inspection, testing, and process monitoring.
