Job summary

Saft in Valdese, NC is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer, Level 1 to design, implement and review manufacturing procedures, and to research automation techniques that improve throughput and quality.

You will support product flow, tooling and fixtures, design equipment, obtain certifications, and drive efficiencies and ergonomic improvements while collaborating with engineers, contractors and suppliers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 3-5 years in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods and tool design
  • Commitment to health and safety standards and environmental regulations
  • Well-versed in SolidWorks and MS Office
  • Project management skills
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Teamwork skills
  • Overtime or off-shift hours may be required
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Evaluating manufacturing processes
  • Developing effective automated and non-automated systems
  • Design and install equipment
  • Resolve issues and delays in production
  • May lead automation projects
  • Provide technical support to ensure maximum throughput, efficiency and quality
  • Assist in the development of new products to ensure manufacturability
  • Manage improvement projects to reduce costs and improve product quality
  • Support maintenance department on technical issues to decrease downtime and increase production efficiency
  • Train staff in new and existing processes
  • Collaborate with engineers, contractors and suppliers
  • Ensure that manufacturing procedures follow safety and environmental regulations

Job description

Manufacturing Engineer, Level 1 is responsible for designing, implementing, and reviewing manufacturing procedures, researching automation techniques to maximize production efficiency, supporting manufacturing activities in product flow, tooling and fixtures, considering environmental impacts, designing machines and equipment, obtaining certifications, and implementing efficiencies and ergonomic improvements.
