Job summary

COGENT Infotech in Billerica, MA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our cooling equipment team. You will support new product introductions and drive lean initiatives focused on quality and waste reduction.

You will partner with manufacturing, planning, purchasing, and engineering to improve processes, support the shop floor, and lead capital projects. A strong problem solver with hands-on skills is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
• 7+ years of manufacturing engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on problem-solving ability in a fast-paced production environment.
• Excellent communication and ability to work across cross-functional teams.
• Self-motivated, organized, and proactive in production support.

Responsibilities

• Act as primary engineering support for shop floor issues, ensuring timely resolution and driving corrective actions.
• Champion a “stop and fix” culture that promotes quality, accountability, and process discipline.
• Partner with cross-functional product development teams to support new product introduction, including DFM input and prototype build coordination.
• Develop and implement process plans for electro-mechanical assembly and testing operations, including chillers and cooling systems.
• Lead facility and capital equipment projects from planning to approval and implementation.
• Create and update work instructions, routings, and other manufacturing documentation.
• Define training needs and develop training materials, competency checks, and process-specific training aids.
• Collaborate with shop floor teams to identify improvements and implement practical solutions.
• Review engineering drawings and perform tolerance analysis against customer requirements.
