Job summary

Multimatic is seeking a qualified engineer in Kentucky to oversee feasibility studies, vendor coordination, and production-launch support for capital equipment and tooling. The role requires a mechanical or industrial engineering background with hands-on experience to drive process improvements and cost reductions.

The successful candidate will manage documentation, CAD drawing production, and work closely with program managers, quality engineers, and trades to ensure smooth program execution

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering or a technical degree with relevant hands-on experience.
• 2+ years of applicable experience preferred.
• Experience in high volume steel processing/manufacturing is a plus.
• Previous experience in the automotive field is a plus.
• Ability to solve problems through logic and removing road blocks.
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
• Knowledge of Solid Works CAD system is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Feasibility study, estimate, quote, evaluate, specify and purchase capital equipment and tooling for new programs or modifications to existing programs to budget.
• Interact and direct vendors to provide equipment and tooling to our standards and performance expectations.
• Launch equipment and tooling to production floor and support on-going production throughout program cycle.
• Develop time lines and maintain through follow up.
• Troubleshoot through root cause analysis and provide technical support for daily plant operations.
• Develop and maintain process documentation and assist with quality documentation.
• Understand and perform tolerance stack ups. Solid understanding of GD&T and datum scheme.
• Investigate and implement cost reductions through process improvements.
• Record lessons learned and revise system documentation to reduce reoccurrence.
• Responsible for producing CAD drawings when required.
• Maintains plant layout for efficient product flow within equipment.
• Maintain and organize drawing database – CAD and hard copies.
• Works directly with skilled trades, program managers and quality engineers.
• Manage and execute actions from ECN/ECR system.
