CNC Programmer – 2nd Shift

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to provide CNC programming, process development, and shop-floor support for large, complex machining equipment. This role involves developing and validating CNC programs, troubleshooting machining issues, supporting equipment startups, and improving manufacturing processes.
Technical Skills
Must Have
- At least 4 years of experience with graphical CAM-based CNC programming
- Siemens NX CAM experience is preferred and will be given priority
Nice to Have
- Experience programming large VTL equipment measuring 2 meters or more
Key Responsibilities
- Develop CNC programs and processes for equipment such as:
- Large VTL machines up to 2.5 meters
- Large VBM machines up to 2.5 meters
- Large head-to-head gantry five-axis machines
- Large vertical multipurpose turn/grind machines
- Generate and maintain CNC programs using NX CAM or similar CAM software.
- Create programs for multi-axis milling, turning, grinding, and/or EDM operations.
- Verify new CNC programs using Vericut before releasing them to the shop floor.
- Incorporate on-machine probing using Renishaw cycles for part and process validation, including error trapping.
- Develop programs according to established standards and qualified machining parameters.
- Provide CNC programming support to manufacturing engineers.
- Train machine operators during new or rebuilt machine startups and process improvements.
- Provide daily CNC programming and troubleshooting assistance to shop-floor operators.
- Support tooling and fixturing requirements associated with CNC machine tools.
- Create and maintain CNC-related workstation instructions and manufacturing methods.
- Lead process-improvement projects focused on safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
- Communicate effectively with operators, engineers, and other team members.
- Manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, matrixed manufacturing environment.
Required Qualifications
- At least 4 years of graphical CAM-based CNC programming experience
- Demonstrated ability to generate and maintain CNC programs
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and machining requirements
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, geometry, trigonometry, and shop-math skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience creating five-axis CNC programs using NX CAM or another graphical CAM system.
- At least one year of experience with high-level machine-tool controls, including:
- Subroutines and macros
- Renishaw probing routines
- Variable-based programming
- Closed-loop machining
- Hands-on machinist experience, including setting up and proving out complex first-piece programs.
- Experience maintaining tight tolerances on large-format equipment such as VTLs and VBMs.
- Understanding of part deflection, work hardening, and thermal stability.
- Experience machining nickel-based superalloys, including Inconel, Rene, and Hastelloy.
- Experience supporting heavy industrial turbine, power-generation, or aerospace manufacturing.
- Experience with Vericut or similar CNC verification and machine-simulation software.
- Familiarity with machine controls such as Fanuc, Haas, Okuma, and Siemens.
