Responsibilities

• Provide advanced manufacturing engineering support and technical leadership by interpreting drawings, specifications, processes, and procedures, and determining impacts to safety, quality, delivery, cost, capacity, and manufacturing readiness.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize manufacturing systems and documentation including BOMs, routings, manufacturing plans, tooling plans, work instructions, process standards, and illustrated production documentation.
• Lead cross-functional process improvement and product improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and capability.
• Demonstrate process expertise in at least two process areas and mentor engineers, production personnel, and cross-functional teams.
• Lead new program introduction and ramp-up activities by reviewing requirements, assessing manufacturability, identifying risks, and developing manufacturing plans.
• Lead large-scale continuous improvement projects and complex investigations using tools like FMEA, RCCA, PHA, and statistical analysis.
• Develop and implement measurement plans for data collection to verify process performance and drive improvements.
• Lead or support capital equipment and tooling initiatives with ROI analysis and production readiness.
• Represent manufacturing engineering with customers, suppliers, regulatory agencies, and internal leadership; respond to inquiries and support audits.
• Champion safety, environmental compliance, quality system requirements, and operational excellence across the organization.

Hexcel is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineering IV for our Kent, WA, USA location.

The Manufacturing Engineer IV provides manufacturing engineering support for production programs, process improvements, new program introduction, and complex cross-functional problem solving. This role applies broad manufacturing knowledge, leads cross-functional process improvement and technical problem-solving initiatives, mentors engineers and technical personnel, and supports site and operational objectives.

Summary pay range: $77,968 - $130,228 annual salary.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

• Provide advanced manufacturing engineering support and technical leadership by interpreting customer and internal drawings, specifications, processes, and procedures, and determining impacts to safety, quality, delivery, cost, capacity, and manufacturing readiness.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize manufacturing systems and documentation, including BOMs, routings, manufacturing plans, tooling plans, work instructions, process standards, and illustrated production documentation.
• Lead complex process improvement and product improvement initiatives across multiple process areas or program families to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and manufacturing capability.
• Demonstrate process expertise in at least two process areas or program families, and provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentoring to engineers, production personnel, and cross-functional teams.
• Lead new program introduction and production ramp-up activities by reviewing engineering requirements, assessing manufacturability, identifying risks, supporting value engineering opportunities, and developing manufacturing plans to meet customer and business objectives.
• Lead large-scale continuous improvement projects and complex investigations using tools such as FMEA, RCCA, PHA, statistical analysis, control plans, mistake-proofing, and structured problem-solving methods.
• Develop and implement measurement plans for data collection and analysis to verify process performance, validate corrective actions, reduce process variation, and support data-driven decision making.
• Lead or support capital equipment and tooling initiatives, including business case development, ROI analysis, equipment acquisition, buyoff, implementation, and production readiness.
• Represent manufacturing engineering with customers, suppliers, regulatory agencies, internal leadership, and technical groups by responding to inquiries, supporting audits and site visits, presenting technical data, and resolving complex manufacturing issues.
• Champion safety, environmental compliance, quality system requirements, and operational excellence while fostering continuous improvement, shared objectives, employee development, and accountability across the organization.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, or related technical discipline; master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of six (6) years of manufacturing engineering experience in aerospace, advanced manufacturing, or a regulated manufacturing environment; an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
• Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional manufacturing, capital equipment, new product introduction (NPI), or operational improvement initiatives. This should include planning work, managing schedules and resources, identifying risks, and driving execution.
• Proven leadership and influence skills, including mentoring engineers and technical personnel, building consensus among stakeholders, effectively communicating with all levels of the organization, and driving accountability to achieve business objectives.
• Advanced problem-solving and analytical capabilities with experience applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, RCCA, PFMEA/FMEA, statistical analysis, and data-driven decision making, along with proficiency in CAD, Microsoft Office, and manufacturing systems such as ERP, MRP, MES, and QMS platforms.
