Brazeway in Shelbyville, Indiana seeks a Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join our team. This role focuses on applying engineering and manufacturing techniques to improve safety, quality, productivity and cost for Brazeway and its customers.

The candidate will work with cross‑functional teams, including R&D, to design processes and equipment, develop cost analyses, and support our manufacturing operations.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a technical discipline.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills are required.
  • Strong work ethic and teamwork commitment are essential.
  • Self-motivated student with coursework or strong interest in manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to draw conclusions and create reports/presentations with technical thinking.

Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering and manufacturing techniques to develop or improve processes focusing on safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
  • Use basic engineering principles to analyze processes and solve manufacturing problems.
  • Design manufacturing processes to meet customer product, delivery, and cost requirements; participate in equipment design and tooling.
  • Collaborate with R&D and external partners to bring new ideas to production.
  • Provide technical support to account managers and assist with cost analyses for process improvements.

The Job Responsibilities include:

  • Applies appropriate engineering and manufacturing technology to develop/improve existing processes in the areas of safety, quality, productivity and cost for Brazeway and its customers.
  • Applies basic engineering principles and analyses to improve processes or solve manufacturing problems by reducing cost, improving quality, and/or capability
  • Designs manufacturing processes that meet customer product, delivery, and cost requirements. Designs or manages the design of new machines and tooling. Manages or participates as a key AQP Team Member in the concept to delivery cycle -- Design, analyze, budget, prototypes and samples, purchase and build equipment, machine acceptance, train, implement and improve
  • Identifies, establishes, and manages development programs that bring new ideas and technologies to practical application in production. This will include working with members of our R & D team as well as with outside organizations
  • Provides technical support to account managers
  • May manage liaison activities with Brazeway’s partners
  • Prepare engineering and cost analyses for process improvement

What a candidate must have to be qualified for the role:

  • Working towards a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technical Degree
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • A strong work ethic and a strong commitment to a team environment
  • Self-Motivated Student with coursework completed or strong interest in manufacturing processes
  • Ability to draw conclusions along with create reports and presentations - technical thinking ability
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Products - Excel, Power Point and Word
