Job summary

Hexcel is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer III for our Kent, WA, USA location. The role provides production support through new program introduction, continuous improvement, and shop floor problem resolution, with responsibility for large programs and mentoring less experienced engineers.

Responsibilities include interpreting drawings and specs, updating plans, coordinating with design, and driving cost-effective manufacturing while ensuring safety and quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years aerospace experience; equivalent education/experience considered.
  • Six Sigma experience and certification preferred; CAD skills required.

  • Interpret drawings, specifications, BOM changes; author/modify manufacturing plans.
  • Lead process and product improvement analyses; support NPI and ramp-up.
  • Coordinate with design and production to build products safely and cost-effectively.
  • Provide technical support for large programs with guidance from senior engineers.

Hexcel is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer III for our Kent, WA, USA location.

They will provide production support through new program introduction, continuous improvement activities, shop floor problem resolution, drawing and specification interpretation, and planning creation. This position will be responsible for technical support of large programs or multiple programs with the support of less experienced Manufacturing Engineers.

Summary pay range

$77,968 - $130,228 annual salary.

Responsibilities
  • Interpret customer and internal drawings, specifications, processes and procedures. Responsible for BOM changes, quote support, authoring first articles, and process/product improvement analysis. Update/create manufacturing and tooling plans with illustrations. Coordinate manufacturing and tooling plans with design. Work with production personnel to build the product in a safe and cost-effective way that meets the customer's requirements.
  • In depth knowledge of at least 2 different process areas/program families.
  • Acts with independence and discretion in routine matters.
  • May act as project leader.
  • Capex/Capital projects completion.
  • Demonstrate initiative and contributes to problem-solving.
  • Perform reviews of new drawings/specs and spec revisions. Analyze designs for productability. Support new program introduction, process development and ramp up. Support design for manufacture and value engineering opportunities with the customer. Quote and evaluate new program feasibility and productability strengths and weaknesses.
  • Continuous Improvement leader and guide/mentor to Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt candidates. Calculate ROI on productivity and design improvements. Identify and create cause and corrective action plans through thorough Root Cause Analysis. Develop and implement measurement plans for data collection and analysis.
  • Assess and respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Effectively present information to top management, public groups, and customers. Coordinate site visits for customers, suppliers, internal people, and local technical groups/associations and present technical data internally, to customers, and to suppliers.
  • Support the safety and environmental programs by meeting applicable requirements pertaining to the specific department and position, as well as all general guidelines, as outlined in the facility Accident Prevention Plan.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering discipline, industrial technology and/or material science discipline from an accredited four-year college or university; Master's Degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of applicable experience in the aerospace industry preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Six Sigma experience and certification strongly preferred.
  • Current computer literacy is a must, including full proficiency in the use of the entire Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook). CAD skills required.
  • Solid ability to define problems, and interpret a variety of technical instruction, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Solid verbal and written communication skills are required.
