Job summary

Vantedge Medical is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II for its Rancho Cordova, CA site. This full-time, permanent, onsite role focuses on process development and improvement in a contract manufacturing environment, supporting large-format steel products and medical device components.

You will apply engineering principles to drive quality, delivery, cost, safety and morale, manage projects, quotes, CAPAs, and collaborate across functions to optimize manufacturability and cost.

Qualifications

• Engineering or bachelor's degree in a technical field.
• 4+ years of work experience in similar technical roles.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to provide solid rationale and justification for process improvement change requests.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Working knowledge of ISO regulations and GD&T.
• Understanding of large-format steel machining, structural welding, paint/coating systems, subassembly, and quality inspection is strongly preferred.
• Lean manufacturing and new product development or launch support experience is desirable.
• Experience in medical device or energy infrastructure manufacturing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to safety and quality requirements including Quality Systems and regulatory requirements.
• Creates and implements lean processes in a cellular environment: large-format steel machining, welding, painting, subassembly, and quality inspection.
• Performs root cause analysis to identify and implement needed process improvements eliminating waste.
• Defines, produces and implements documents including standard work and process work instructions.
• Investigates, develops and implements new process technologies.
• Communicates complex issues with customers and internal teams effectively.
• Creates and approves engineering drawings, layouts, change orders and specifications.
• Develops tooling, fixtures and equipment to optimize productivity and cost.
• Owns and manages CAPAs for areas of responsibility.
• Collaborates with development, programmers, machinists and suppliers to evaluate manufacturability and cost reduction.
• Executes validation protocols and material evaluations.
• Develops detailed project plans for engineering work with minimum supervision.
• Launches new products effectively in contract manufacturing environments.
• Provides input and develops quotes for new business opportunities.
• Plans and executes projects on time and within budget to achieve tangible results.
• Drives improvements through root cause analysis and data-driven decisions.
• Participates in cross-functional project teams to implement solutions.
• Ensures internal and external customer expectations are met or exceeded.
• Infrequent travel as needed for customer meetings and industry events
