Job summary

Thea Energy is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II to join the Manufacturing Engineering team on site in Kearny, NJ. You will develop processes, tooling, and equipment to manufacture HTS magnets for a planar coil stellarator, and help establish process and quality foundations as we scale to production.

Responsibilities include creating manufacturing documentation, building tooling, performing design-for-manufacture improvements, and coordinating with vendors and technicians.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience with a related degree.
• Experience with complex electrical and mechanical hardware assemblies and process development including tooling, fixtures, machines, and automation.
• Experience with metal fusion processes (soldering, brazing, welding).
• Experience scaling from first-of-a-kind to continuous production and interpreting manufacturing drawings (GD&T).
• Experience planning and executing using PLM, MRP, and inventory management software.

Responsibilities

• Generate documentation for HTS magnet manufacture, including processes, work instructions, and quality criteria.
• Design, build, and commission magnet manufacturing tooling and equipment.
• Collaborate with magnet engineers to incorporate design for manufacture and lessons learned.
• Develop and implement inventory management and manufacturing BOMs (virtual and physical).
• Procure hardware meeting quality specs and coordinate vendor qualifications.
• Define roles and onboard manufacturing technicians.
• Track progress against program goals and milestones.
• Communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
