Job summary

Thea Energy seeks a seasoned Manufacturing Engineer III to lead the development, validation, and scale-up of HTS magnet manufacturing processes and tooling. You will partner with engineering to drive manufacturability and process improvements from prototype to production.

You will own BOMs, routings, supplier evaluation, and capital equipment procurement, while mentoring junior staff and guiding manufacturing milestones within budget constraints.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field required.
• 7+ years hands-on manufacturing engineering experience.
• Experience building complex electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Experience with high-precision joining and metal fusion processes.
• Proven ability to scale low-volume development to production using PLM, MRP, ERP.
• Strong drafting with GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Experience in fusion, aerospace, medical devices, defense, or high-reliability manufacturing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and standardization of manufacturing documentation for HTS magnets.
• Own end-to-end design, procurement, build, and commissioning of custom tooling and equipment.
• Coordinate with Magnet Engineering for manufacturability and DFMEA improvements.
• Manage manufacturing BOMs, routings, and inventory in PLM and MRP systems.
• Write specifications, assess suppliers, and procure high-precision hardware and capital equipment.
• Define technician roles and mentor junior engineers and staff.
• Track milestones, schedules, and budget across magnet initiatives.
