Job summary

Eotech, Llc. is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II to design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.

This role interfaces with design, development, quality, manufacturing personnel, and vendors to ensure products meet specifications and customer requirements. The candidate will implement cost-effective solutions, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and develop assembly processes, tools, fixtures, and equipment.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in a production/manufacturing environment, preferably assembly.
  • Proficiency in CAD and Computer-Aided Engineering software.
  • Experience with ISO9001/QMS and audits, data analysis tools (Minitab), failure investigation and corrective actions.
  • Experience with design and maintenance of assembly fixtures.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings of complex nature.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or ASQ certification preferred.
  • Knowledge in optics and holography is preferable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and release product assembly documentation, including Operating Procedures and Work Instructions.
  • Develop plans, flow charts, inspection methods and procedures to ensure quality throughout product lifecycle.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve design and manufacturability issues relating to the build, test and shipment of production.
  • Drive corrective and preventive actions through to resolution in partnership with internal and external parties.
  • Generate and deploy trend charts, histograms, and other Green Belt tools monitoring health of processes within the Assembly department.
  • Optimize productivity, reduce waste, and enhance quality using continuous improvement methods such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Value Stream Mapping.
  • Design production tools and fixtures as well as selecting equipment for use in system manufacturing.
  • Manage fault investigation and troubleshooting of assembly and test equipment, measuring devices and tools.
  • Train operators on new assembly and test methods and procedures, as well as other quality related training of employees.
  • Review engineering and manufacturing change documents; assure products meet customers' requirements with minimum variation and ease of inspection.

POSITION PURPOSE

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality and safety. This role supports production by implementing cost-effective solutions, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring products are manufactured to meet specifications and customer requirements. This role will develop and implement manufacturing processes and ensure that documented practices meet the true interpretation of the quality management system standards. This role will also develop assembly processes and manufacturing tools, fixtures, and equipment. This role will also be responsible for early detection and quick action to resolve any non-conformances found as well as performing root cause analysis. This engineering role will interface with design and development engineers, quality engineers, manufacturing personnel, and vendors.


The qualified candidate can work under minimal supervision and aggressively pursue time-sensitive milestones.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES


  • Develop and release product assembly documentation, including Operating Procedures and Work Instructions.

  • Develop plans, flow charts, inspection methods and procedures (including detailed instructions, checklists, sampling plans, etc.) to ensure all products, data and/or services meet specified quality requirements throughout entire product lifecycle.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve design and manufacturability related issues relating to the build, test and shipment of production.

  • Drive corrective and preventive actions through to resolution in partnership with internal and external parties.

  • Generate and deploy trend charts, histograms, and other Green Belt tools monitoring health of processes within the Assembly department. Analyze metrics and indicators to determine opportunities for improvement.

  • Optimize productivity, reduce waste, and enhance quality using continuous improvement methods such asLean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Value Stream Mapping.

  • Design production tools and fixtures as well as selecting equipment for use in system manufacturing.

  • Manage fault investigation and troubleshooting of assembly and test equipment, measuring devices and tools.

  • Support failure analysis of warranty returns and facilitate corrective actions within the factory as appropriate.

  • Train operators on new assembly and test methods and procedures, as well as other quality related training of employees.

  • Create and give product overview presentations and training on various aspects of assigned products to assembly operators, manufacturing technicians, supply chain personnel, or customers.

  • Review engineering and manufacturing change documents; specifically, for new and revised designs, specifications, and bills of materials; production, tool, and test equipment drawings; production and tool plans; operations and routing sheets: production, storage, and shipping methods. Assure that products meet customers' requirements with minimum variation and ease of inspection.

  • Support product Design for Manufacturability and Design FMEA efforts.

  • Generate and maintain Process FMEAs throughout the entire product lifecycle.

  • Participate in regular inspection and calibration of tooling and gages and maintain calibration compliance metrics with internal and external sources.

  • Effectively interface and collaborate with Supplier Quality Engineering to solve vendor quality issues and maintain an effective supply chain value stream.

  • Take part in material disposition with approval team and appropriate identification of non-conforming material and document details for accounting cost of poor quality.

  • Assess test equipment needs and develop plans for further internal test capabilities. This includes supplier management for design, build, delivery, and installation of test equipment.

  • Lead/support certain budget and schedule activities as required by programs and management.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:


  • BS degree in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent field with some applicable industry experience


Experience Required:


  • Military Experience Preferred

  • 2-4 years of experience in a production/manufacturing environment, preferable assembly.

  • Experience with product/process quality improvement, ISO9001/QMS and audits, data analysis tools/Minitab, failure investigation and corrective actions
