Manufacturing Engineer

Position Summary:

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support operations at our ordnance manufacturing facility in Middletown, Iowa. This role focuses on improving manufacturing processes, supporting production teams, and implementing engineering solutions to optimize safety, efficiency, and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods and processes.
  • Analyze workflow, space requirements, and production schedules.
  • Design and implement tooling, equipment, and layout improvements.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives using lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Prepare detailed documentation including work instructions, process flows, and engineering change orders.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or related field).
  • 2+ years of relevant engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma preferred.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Experience:

  • Background in military or defense manufacturing.
  • Hands-on experience working with explosives, munitions, or ordnance production.
  • Military service or prior work in a DoD-regulated environment is a strong plus.
