PRIMARY SUMMARY
Under general supervision the Manufacturing Engineer II is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining methods, operation sequences and processes in manufacturing. Works with the engineering department to coordinate the release of new products. Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze, design, and develop manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment.
- Perform analysis and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
- Develop new and update old production processes with proper documentation and approvals.
- Prepare and maintain detailed layouts of buildings and equipment.
- Interface and coordinate the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results.
- Interface and coordinate with vendors/customers to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards.
- Interface and coordinate with sales, planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods and quality results.
- Write process control and quality procedures.
- Review manufacturing drawings to identify improvements.
- Participate on teams using quality control tools such as 8D, 5S, Kaizen, Lean, Six‑Sigma (DMAIC), VSM, and Statistical Process Control (SPC) to reduce process variation and process improvement evaluation.
- Perform product/process analysis for cost reduction, in‑process quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
- Implement and process new part structures and sequencing methods to be routed through applicable shops & departments.
- Develop bill of operations (BOO), bill of materials (BOM), and parts cost.
- Process tool design (fixtures) with use of computer assisted design applications and programs.
- Identify and troubleshoot tools in assembly.
- Establish and maintain manufacturing on cross‑functional teams.
- Investigate manufacturing problems and implement root cause correction.
- May be required to travel to customer facilities and other affiliates as required.
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Works under general supervision with a certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
- Provides technical support to all manufacturing and support departments.
- Develop and implement optimal, cost‑effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards.
- Design and implement manufacturing launch for new or revised products.
- Follow all 5S department procedures which include keeping floors clean of oil and debris, returning tools to proper locations, organizing part pans, and performing other housekeeping duties.
- Attend all required job‑related training (internal and external).
- Responsible for complying with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, LISI Aerospace, and HSE Procedures.
- Responsible for attending all training provided and for adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements, and safe operating procedures at all times.
- Required to bring any known or suspected nonconformance for all company procedures or legal requirements to management’s attention immediately.
- Seek opportunities to improve HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting results.
- Suggest waste elimination initiatives specifically related to the function and department such as recycling opportunities and elimination of paper waste.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education And/or Experience
- B.S. degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, minimum 4+ years related experience required and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Green Belt certified highly desired. Strong drafting skills (SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD), excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work within a team.
- Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and continuous improvement; aerospace manufacturing experience highly desired.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Computer Skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, computer‑assisted design (CAD/CAM) proficiency; SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD experience required.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract concrete variables.
Physical Demands
Employee is frequently required to stand for extended periods, walk, and sit; requires eye‑hand coordination, hand movement and manual dexterity; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch; occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Visual and hearing requirements as described above.
ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH AND SAFETY
Compliance with company and governmental safety, environmental and hazardous materials regulations and procedures. Required to wear personal protective equipment in specified areas. Participation in the development and promotion of HSE culture is required, including respecting instructions, reporting malfunctions, implementing preventive actions, and participating in risk analyses and HSE working groups.
