Job summary

Komatsu America Corp. is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer I for the Value Innovation Group in Peoria, IL.

The role focuses on completing manufacturing engineering projects with emphasis on safe practices, process improvements, and cost reductions across fabrication and warehouse operations. Responsibilities include tooling selection, creating routings, ECNs, and manning plans, while leveraging CAD/CAM, MRP, and Lean tools to drive efficiency and quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering.
  • 1–3 years of experience in the manufacturing engineering field.
  • Proficient with Excel, Word, Power Point, Project Management.
  • Proficient using 3D CAD and AutoCAD software.
  • High-level skills in setting standards, methods improvements, layout design, assembly tooling/fixtures, line balancing, and developing assembly worksheets.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal, written, and phone.
  • Ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing to develop high-quality parts.
  • Attention to detail, patience and problem-solving are essential.
  • Compliance with environmental and safety rules and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Select tools and programs related to automated equipment using CAD/CAM to optimize manpower, machines, and facilities.
  • Complete projects on time using project planning tools and coordinating with all required stakeholders.
  • Recommends tooling and equipment to assist Fabrication and Warehousing for existing and new Models and revised processes.
  • Update routings to coordinate fabrication through assembly flow and manage ECNs in the MRP system.
  • Develop manpower requirements for the Production Department and warehouse to support changing production volumes.
  • Understand budget implications to improve safety, quality, and cost of processes.
  • Balance Sub Assembly, Main Line, and Warehouse operations and verify standard times.
  • Develop packaging requirements for spare parts, suppliers, and 3PL.
  • Perform root cause analysis with countermeasures to eliminate risk.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing tools, line balancing, 5S, Standard Work Instructions, Gemba, Kaizen, PDCA, Poke Yoke, Visual Factory.
  • Conduct time studies to determine best practices and perform Make Vs. Buy analyses.
  • Identify bottlenecks and recommend improvements to increase efficiency.
