Job summary

RTX, via Collins Aerospace, is seeking a manufacturing engineer to support sensor production in the IRS & VCS portfolios. This onsite role partners with production, quality, and design teams to improve processes, documentation, and equipment effectiveness.

A STEM degree and CAD/ERP experience are required; located at Burnsville, MN for a U.S.-based opportunity. The position emphasizes collaboration, constant learning, and applying manufacturing techniques to drive quality and cost improvements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related STEM major by start date.
  • Experience in an engineering field and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience using CAD software (CREO preferred); on-the-job learning acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as technical liaison to production, providing support to operators and technicians with technical advice.
  • Collaborates daily with Manufacturing, Quality, and Design Engineers to solve production issues in a high mix, low volume environment.
  • Proficient with SAP, Creo, and Teamcenter for production and design data management.
  • Identifies common defects and mitigations for assigned processes and products.
  • Maintains and updates manufacturing procedures and routings.
  • Supports development of new products and processes and aims to reduce scrap, rework, and cost.
  • Uses data analytics/SPC to drive productivity, OEE, and First Pass Yield improvements.

Collins Aerospace is seeking a manufacturing engineer who can creatively apply engineering knowledge to efficiently solve complex manufacturing problems to support the production of sensors in the Ice, Rain, and Stall (IRS) & Video Connectivity Systems (VCS) product portfolios. This position will require interfacing with other manufacturing engineers, production leaders, maintenance, purchasing, quality engineers, production operators, technicians, design engineers, and program management. The challenges and opportunities are unlimited for this position. This is an onsite role that will put you right where the action is! Our ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic learner with a bias for action that works well with other engineers and values collaboration. Manufacturing can be a dynamic environment with constantly shifting priorities. Candidates that are adaptable to this environment and are quick learners will be given preference for this position.

What You Will Do:
  • Serves as the technical liaison to production. Directly providing support to production operators and technicians in the form of technical advice, fixture design, and work instruction updates.
  • Collaborate daily with other Manufacturing, Quality, and Design Engineers to effectively solve production issues in a high mix, low volume manufacturing environment.
  • Become proficient in key operations software such as SAP, Creo, and Teamcenter.
  • Become proficient in identifying common defects and issues for assigned processes/products and learn the proper mitigations for those defects and issues.
  • Become proficient in assessing non-conforming material, develop skills to acquire material dispositioning signature authority (MRB and ASL).
  • Maintain and improve production documentation (manufacturing procedures, manufacturing routings, etc.).
  • Make changes in assembly processes, equipment procedures, and design specifications to solve equipment and manufacturing problems.
  • Support the development of new products and processes.
  • Identify and execute projects to reduce scrap, rework, and repair costs.
  • Actively seek out new technologies to improve current processes.
  • Use data analytics/SPC for productivity, First Pass Yield and OEE targets and improvements.
  • Participates in the design and arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure more efficient and productive layout.
  • Provides guidance for engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques (design for manufacturability).
  • Properly document and report your work.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by start date.
  • Previous experience in an engineering field Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite programs Experience using CAD software (CREO preferred) *Experience may be obtained through on‑the‑job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
