Job summary

Daikin Applied is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support the management team in Owatonna, MN. You will perform time studies, optimize line flow using lean principles, and lead continuous improvement with guidance from senior engineers.

You will collaborate on work instructions, training matrices, and safe procedures while supporting capital projects and cross‑functional teams to improve manufacturability and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology, Industrial Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent technical/engineering field.
  • Experience with lean tools and continuous improvement methods a plus.
  • Strong proficiency with Solidworks/AutoCAD and MS Office/MS Project.

Responsibilities

  • Provide manufacturing engineering expertise to support the management team and drive process improvements.
  • Perform time studies and identify bottlenecks to improve line flow and reduce costs.
  • Collaborate to develop work instructions, training materials, and safe procedures with ergonomics focus.
  • Assist with capital projects and supplier quotes; manage small capital investments when needed.

Come be a part of an exciting journey at Daikin Applied, where innovation and excellence drive our every endeavor!Location: Owatonna, MNYour Responsibilities:Provide manufacturing engineering expertise to support the management team, collaborate on process improvement, and contribute to continuous improvement/cost reduction efforts with minimal supervision or under the guidance of a senior Manufacturing EngineerPerform time studies to identify potential process improvement, apply the theory of constraints to identify bottlenecks, and optimize work content for improved line flowAnalyze operational data to optimize equipment and workspace layout, following lean manufacturing principles & Utilizing the PDCA process to evaluate process changes for performance improvement recommendationsRecommend methods for improving worker effectiveness, safety, quality, and cost reduction. This may involve restructuring job duties, optimizing workflow based on PDS principles, relocating workstations and equipment, and considering new equipment purchasesCollaborate with the manufacturing engineering team to create work instructions, training checklists, and training matrices; partner with the Safety Manager to establish safe procedures and enhance ergonomics in the manufacturing processCollaborate with cross-functional teams to improve manufacturability in new product development and create production process guidelines, measurement parameters, and cost estimates for both new and existing productsCollaborate on equipment/tool design for production processes and facilitate equipment procurement through quotes/bidsSupport senior manufacturing engineers with capital investment projects and possibly manage small capital projects (including the creation of funding requests)Assist with the evaluation of hourly employee’s job skill knowledge (JSK) requirementsBecome skilled in the use of tools in the lean toolbox (e.g., root cause analysis, PDCA, kaizen, 5S, etc.)Your Qualifications:Bachelors Degree in Industrial Technology, Industrial Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent technical, scientific or engineering degree.Solidworks, AutoCAD 2D, MS Office and MS Project experienceYour Benefits:Daikin Applied offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements:Multiple medical insurance plan options + dental and vision insurance401K retirement plan with employer matchPaid time off and company paid holidaysPaid sick time in accordance with the federal, state and local lawTuition Reimbursement after 6 months of continuous serviceWork visa sponsorship is not available for this positionThe typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $ 62,000.00 - $100,500.00 in Minnesota.
