Job summary

Medtronic is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer I to support manufacturing operations and production processes under the guidance of senior engineers. You will help develop, optimize, and maintain manufacturing processes, equipment, and documentation to ensure safety, quality, efficiency, and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day technical support to manufacturing and maintenance teams.
  • Assist with troubleshooting manufacturing equipment and line performance issues.
  • Support root cause analysis for equipment failures, process deviations and quality issues.
  • Read and interpret technical documentation and equipment information.
  • Support documentation for work instructions, process flows, and change records.
  • Participate in equipment qualification and validation activities (FATs/SATs IQ as applicable).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve safety, quality, productivity and cost.

A Day in the Life

The Manufacturing Engineer I supports manufacturing operations and production processes under the guidance of senior engineers. This role contributes to the development, optimization, and support of manufacturing processes, equipment, and documentation to help ensure safety, quality, efficiency, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day technical support to manufacturing and maintenance teams.
  • Assist with troubleshooting manufacturing equipment, production processes, and line performance issues.
  • Support root cause analysis for equipment failures, process deviations, and quality issues.
  • Read and interpret technical documentation, process specifications, and equipment-related information.
  • Support the development and maintenance of manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flows, process documentation, operating instructions, equipment specifications, and change records.
  • Assist with equipment and process qualification and validation activities, including FATs, SATs, and Installation Qualification protocols, as applicable.
  • Participate in projects focused on improving equipment reliability, process stability, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness.
  • Assist with equipment design reviews, installations, and commissioning activities from a manufacturing perspective.
  • Support process improvement initiatives related to cycle time, yield, scrap reduction, and throughput.
  • Participate in DFMEA, PFMEA, machine risk assessments, and other quality and safety activities.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, EHS, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, flow, and cost.
  • Travel occasionally, up to 5 percent, to support suppliers or other manufacturing locations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 0 to 2 years of engineering experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience through internships, co-ops, senior projects, laboratory work, or similar technical experience.
  • Exposure to manufacturing processes, process improvement, lean manufacturing, or production support.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or related design software.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
  • Understanding of machine safety principles.

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$69,600.00 - $104,400.00
