Job summary

Mercor is seeking industrial and manufacturing engineers for a research project with a leading AI lab. The role offers a part-time schedule (approximately 10-20 hours per week) and involves working on real processes to generate high-quality training data on your Mac.

You will analyze production workflows, apply lean thinking, and communicate engineering decisions clearly. Immediate start is preferred for qualified candidates pursuing or holding related masters or with 2-3 years of experience.

Qualifications

• Must own a MacBook or Mac with Apple Silicon or Intel, macOS 15+.
• Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Systems Engineering.
• Experience with process design, lean/Six Sigma, production planning, quality control, or supply chain analysis using spreadsheets, CAD, process-mapping, or statistical tools.
• Currently pursuing or recently completed Masters studies, or have 2-3 years of relevant experience + Bachelor's from a prestigious institution.
• Ability to clearly explain your engineering decisions while you work.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Complete and narrate real industrial tasks on your Mac to create high-quality training data for AI models.

You will work through real process, operations, and production engineering workflows on your own Mac to help benchmark and improve cutting-edge AI models.

Qualifications:

• Required: You must own a MacBook or Mac with an Apple M-series chip or Intel processor, running macOS 15 or higher. Applicants without a Mac cannot be considered.

• Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Systems Engineering, or a related field

• Experience with process design, lean/Six Sigma, production planning, quality control, or supply chain analysis using spreadsheets, CAD, process-mapping, or statistical tools
