Job summary

BETA Technologies in Vermont is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer - Final Assembly Line to translate engineering designs into clear, shop-floor work instructions for safe, efficient aircraft assembly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial engineering or related field.
• 2+ years in a manufacturing engineering role, preferably aerospace.
• Read engineering drawings, GD&T, and 3D models.
• Experience authoring SOPs and controlled production documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication for floor personnel.
• Comfortable working on both production floor and office settings.
• Familiar with engineering change management and configuration control.

The Manufacturing Engineer - FAL translates engineering design intent into clear, executable work instructions that enable the production team to build safely and efficiently. This role bridges the gap between engineering drawings and the shop floor — interpreting 3D models and 2D drawings, authoring SOPs and process documentation, and serving as a technical resource for production technicians during aircraft assembly. The position is a mix of desk-based documentation work and hands-on floor support, reporting to the Lead Manufacturing Engineer for the Final Assembly Line and partnering closely with the Quality team.

How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:

• Interpret engineering drawings and 3D models to develop detailed, shop-floor-ready work instructions for final assembly operations
• Author and maintain SOPs, process documents, and other controlled documentation to support repeatable, high-quality builds
• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for production technicians during assembly, resolving questions and clarifying design intent in real time
• Collaborate with the Quality team to disposition non-conformances and implement corrective actions in manufacturing processes
• Identify opportunities to improve work instruction clarity, process efficiency, and build sequence based on production feedback
• Support the development and refinement of manufacturing processes within 3DX/CATIA and Plex (ERP) systems
• Participate in drawing reviews and engineering change processes to assess manufacturability and flag potential assembly issues early

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
• 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role, preferably in aerospace or aviation
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and 3D models
• Experience authoring work instructions, SOPs, or other controlled production documentation
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly to floor personnel
• Comfortable working in both a production floor environment and an office/desk setting
• Familiarity with engineering change management and configuration control processes

Above and Beyond Qualifications:

• Experience with 3DX (3DEXPERIENCE) and CATIA for model-based work instruction development
• Experience with Plex ERP system
• Background in aircraft final assembly or similar complex mechanical/electrical assembly environments
• Knowledge of AS9100 or similar aerospace quality management systems
• Experience supporting non-conformance disposition and root cause analysis
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This role operates in both an office setting and a production floor environment. The Manufacturing Engineer will regularly walk the factory floor to support technicians, which may require standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, and occasionally climbing ladders or platforms to access aircraft structures. The ability to lift up to 25 lbs is required. While on the production floor, the individual may be exposed to moderate noise levels, moving equipment, and will be required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Standard office work including prolonged use of a computer and sitting at a desk is also expected.

The wage listed here reflects our best faith estimate for this role. Compensation

$85,000 - $115,000 USD
