Job Description

Engineering - Manufacturing Manages high complexity design and planning of layout for assembly and materials handling. Adaptation of machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions. Planning of sequence of operations and specification procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.

About This Role

Manufacturing Engineer is a key member of the Manufacturing Operations team responsible for supporting daily production, improving manufacturing processes, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role works closely with Operations, Quality, Materials, Maintenance, and Engineering to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Productivity (SQDCP) performance.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated problem solver who enjoys working on the manufacturing floor, analyzing data, implementing improvements, and leading cross‑functional projects that increase productivity, reduce waste, and improve product quality.

Key Responsibilities

Production Support:

  • Provide daily engineering support to manufacturing operations.
  • Troubleshoot equipment, tooling, process, and assembly issues impacting production.
  • Lead root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support launch and stabilization of new products, processes, and equipment.
  • Partner with Operations and Maintenance teams to improve equipment uptime and process reliability.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Lead Kaizen events and continuous improvement projects.
  • Identify opportunities to improve labor efficiency, throughput, quality, safety, and ergonomics.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and optimize workflow.
  • Develop and implement visual management, standard work, and sustainment systems.
  • Drive annual cost reduction and productivity initiatives.

Process Engineering:

  • Analyze manufacturing processes, cycle times, bottlenecks, and capacity constraints.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, layouts, and standard work.
  • Participate in line balancing, labor utilization studies, and workflow improvements.
  • Support implementation of manufacturing systems, automation, and digital tools.
  • Develop equipment and tooling improvement plans and support capital projects.

Quality & Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with Client's safety standards and OSHA requirements.
  • Partner with Quality to improve FPY, reduce defects, and eliminate recurring quality escapes.
  • Support PFMEA, control plan, and process validation activities.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Project Leadership:

  • Lead cross‑functional projects from concept through implementation.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, ROI analyses, and progress updates.
  • Coordinate activities between Operations, Quality, Materials, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Present project results and recommendations to plant leadership.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Minimum 2 years of engineering, manufacturing, operations, or related experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to lead projects and influence cross‑functional teams.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a high‑volume manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and root cause problem solving.
  • Experience with line balancing, capacity analysis, labor standards, and workflow optimization.
  • Experience with PLC‑controlled equipment, automation systems, or manufacturing execution systems (MES).
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or manufacturing layout development.
  • Experience supporting capital projects and equipment installations.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive measurable operational improvements.
Success Measures
  • Safety performance within assigned area.
  • Improvement in First Pass Yield (FPY) and quality metrics.
  • Reduction in downtime, scrap, and rework.
  • Improved labor productivity and schedule attainment.
  • Completion and sustainment of continuous improvement projects.
